@tedu I haven't started it yet, but want to.I would always worry that my alternate reality storage device was physically in someone else's reality. Black box pops into their existence, or their lawn starts growing in patterns.

@petersanchez @dirk Ran into an interesting issue with the Pi. The backend is failing about once a day. Exactly once a day, I asked myself? Yes, it appears so.When I migrated over, I thought what the heck, let's log to syslog. I installed socklog, left the defaults, voila.It looks like when the daily log rotation kicks in, the backend crashes. If I try a simple restart of honk the backend doesn't like the socket. A full reboot does the trick.So, in experimentation mode, now logging to file again. Start the clock.

I stumbled across an article that was talking about the Plan 9 acme color palette so I decided to try using those colors on honk, basically something I'll see but almost no one else. The only standout is that the avatars are all still purple and could use a makeover (if I can figure out that syntax).I'm also tempted to swap out the standard honk avatar with my standard Mastodon avatar, or maybe something new, but there's so few of us honkers out there I kind of like the idea of keeping it. It's like a clan tartan for the Fediverse.I'm not sure I'm going to keep it this way yet. It's a little bright, which looks good on a big screen but I need some more face time with it on my phone.

@icy There's a way to do it with the admin command at the command line, but I haven't read the code yet to figure out the syntax. I suspect it's going to be something super easy like honk admin avatar 003366ff 006699ff ffee00ff aadd33ff but some of the other customization commands take HTML as input, so not entirely sure.

@tedu I read your blog post about Zutty, read their performance and VT stress test results, installed it, and liked it, but also found that tuimoji is probably a crappy app and a good resiliency test. Rendering in zutty is pretty bad, st is fair, curious about your terminal project.I wrote a crappy VT100 emulator in Oberon decades ago, just enough to get email and an editor working via telnet to the VMS system the university used. It would have passed none of these tests, but pretty sure it would have been the shortest by number of lines. 😂 It was essentially a filter with one, giant case statement that manipulated an 80x24 array of text. I'm still amazed it worked as well as it did, and every time I hit some formatting error it was usually just another 2-4 lines in the case statement and away we go.I was going to try porting zmodem but the world moved on without me.

Burned down my #VoidLinux install on my craptop, rebuilding it with a @fedora less-than-minimal install to see if I can squeeze out my own spin (or whatever it's called these days). So far, so good. I miss emptty but I'll survive.Kicking the tires on the browser #BadWolf by @lanodan and I might be sold. Mainly using LessPass on the command line for my passwords anyway.
