Hey fellow educators. I am old enough to remember the fuel the home PC revolution added to "computer literacy." I was first on the internet in 1992, and in short order (yet always a little late) "information literacy" became a university GE topic, program or even requirement. What we need to get to work on RIGHT NOW is artificial intelligence literacy.

@amerika @wrongthink @PhenomX6 Linux shell is exactly where we start, installing (RPi of course.) The goal is to get them moving pixels around on tile displays. Python MPI and other libraries, often Pygame. So they pick up a lot of basic networking too. A+ students get there by building small cluster. Then we have an exhibition. Two sequence course.

@Wolven Exchange is in our nature, beneath king, capitalism or socialist komisar, capitalist markets always appear, organized under the sign of crime or, convenience. Thus far anyway. Design dreams of a perfectly frictionless and fair AI economy aside (I'm not sanguine about cyber libertarian wet dreams), historically capital pools like water at the lowest ethical points. Is all art doomed to producing fantasies of our better angels, who will always disappoint us? Opiates no less than religion?

@Wolven I saw three coyotes who were just goofing around tonight, a beautiful sight.

@Wolven please do keep pouring salt on that one! You have unpacked a twisted one, irony flows like blood here and I surely endorse that.

@Wolven Hearing you here. I'm at an age where only exercise helps. And maybe a trip to a nice place to take exercise. Alcohol is still fun on a holiday or some such, but it is no longer much as medicine. Nor any other chemical really, save an occasional aspirin or doxylamine. That is where I'm at. I need to go lift.

I'm going to be that guy and preach to the choir but maybe we can get this message around Mastodon a little. W4HTP repeater in Mecklenburg 145.350 has been doing important work as many Hams have after hurricane Helene. How much does it cost to get up on 2 meters? A library book, a multiple choice test, and maybe $30 for a cheap radio. Then you have an alternative means of communication for emergencies. #ham #emergency #helene getting licenced is easy (in the USA...)

@vik I'ma about to try to run in in ollama, but from experience with my own laptop (with a modest Nvidia a1000) is that you really need an Nvidia GPU to run locally.
