I think it's weird that 'lockfile' seems to have changed meanings, from "a transient file that exists as a half-assed mutex implementation" to "a snapshot of the extremely specific library versions your code worked with"

oh see we can specify "open" but other qualities have to be "judged by their merit" eh1. this is arbitrary line-drawing, unless you're asserting openness is required for merit2. if one societal characteristic is required for merit, why are you asserting that contribution to or inhibition of human quality of life is a lesser or irrelevant factor in merit3. without a comprehensive definition of 'merit' your declaration boils down to "should be judged by stuff I care about" which isn't much use to anyoneCC: @dalias@hachyderm.io

I wish you luck. For over a decade, wikipeople had me listed as flight lead on a special operations mission that happened when I was thirteen years old. They would not brook input on the matter. It only got fixed when they decided to remove all the flight crew data from the page...

not sure that device firmware needs to be packaged by the os... I think that's common in the u-boot world because u-boot sucks. wasn't that way with the OLPC machines firmware!

you're right! except... it supports a half-ass encryption feature, which is subject to some pretty easy attacks. usage is explicitly discouraged in the project and has been for a good while now. snac is already the most efficient fully-featured activitypub implementation I've ever seen; seems like a hat on a hatbesides, it makes incremental backups stupid simple (I am a big fan of stupid simple)
