@kotik I'd guess no. The engine would likely be tightly tied to the computer control (or brain). Like a lot of modern vehicles, once that's gone without an OEM replacement the vehicle is basically spare parts.Might be able to reuse just the body of the transformer. Would have to put it on a new frame. But difficult to do that respectfully...

@xerz @kravietz it's unfortunate that the authors don't separate stock LineageOS from LineageOS with the "Optional" (but usually recommended) GApps. /e/ did get a lot of crap (validly) for not removing all traces of Google connections from their forks of Lineage, which they eventually dealt with.https://web.archive.org/web/20210303061041/https://infosec-handbook.eu/blog/e-foundation-final-look/

@martijnbraam can you touch type on the pinephone keyboard? Looks a lot like the old Psion keyboard which was surprisingly usable. That would be worth the chonk.

@kyle "unique". Happy accidents can make something new and different. Or think of it as evolution of tartans where the genetic copy has subtle differences

@thahajemnireal @werwolf @xerz using XMPP & helping people onboard is getting easier with @snikket_imThere's still the question of which snikket server to use if you don't have the ability to run your own. That's something that I think Mastodon and Matrix did better: a decent default instance with effective encouragement to migrate to other smaller ones.WhatsApp had a good twist with the "$1/year after first year" to seed the network

@eighthave @delta as much as I dislike Slack, they do this. Alt-click on web, long-press on mobile, then "Mark unread". It moves the "unread" line to just above the selected message in the chat/thread

@wjmaggos @railmeat @briankrebs @signalapp @matrix or alternatively #xmpp / @snikket_im which has OMEMO that's based on the same double-ratchet algorithm as Signal. It also bridges well to SMS and voice phones using jmp.chat (or similar Vonage/Twilio for non-US/Canada numbers)Matrix has some nice features that XMPP lacks, but XMPP is still a well used and reasonable alternative.

Just installed @delta and was under the impression that it was email based. I expected to have to put in some email credentials and use my local email server. But instead it created a disconnected profile and just uses IMAP as a transport?https://delta.chat/en/help does not make clear how this actually works.Decentralised is a great buzz word, but without better description of how it works makes it difficult to trust.https://delta.chat/en/help#security-audits doesn't mention architecture, just encryption.
