Today Google pulled our App because their bot/algorithm failed to process our privacy policy URL likely because of the macron. Also deep links can't redirect, so wharekorero.nz can't redirect to its proper spelling of wharekōrero.nz because idk some egg of an engineering thought it so? Like how Google docs says spelling URLs correctly means they're invalid URLs. This is how big tech hurt us at the margins. Now I have spend a couple thousand to re-engineering our systems for Google's bots. 🖕🏾

Smart home kiwis, any recommendations for smart locks? I want to move everything to Home Assistant but I'm currently half HA half Apple HomeKit. I can't seem to find any matter capable locks for NZ. The ones the door man recommends all require a WiFi bridge and also use a cloud for remote access (can't be done locally) but I guess that's okay for now.

Everyone should know that spell check is broken in software you spend hundreds on because Microsoft insists you use a cloud service to check your spelling. This has broken custom spell check technologies indigenous people have built for their language.

@selea tech in general I feel is also getting worse. I got so over the various software and devices I tried to use for a project I pulled out pens paper protractors rulers the whole shebang and it was so much better! Except the odd time I tried to CTL+Z IRL.

These tech companies are so intent on surveiling you as you write, you can't even type an email on a dodgy connection. This is a great example of tech getting worse because they need to push cloud services on every little charatcer by character as you use their platforms. Soz, trying to write emails in a vehicle driving north in Northland. Don't use Gmail App on mobile to do this. Or turn on airplane mode when you type. This has been an issue for ever in Gmail but today it's really doing my head it. Do we lose patience the older we get? Nah, I've lost patience for Big Tech.
