Patenting cultivars of plants and trying to tell people that propogating it is illegal has to be one of the dumbest and most fucked up things about our modern world.

Today's plant adventures, tasting my first bird pepper and collecting some seeds for future planting. These things make up for their tiny stature with plenty of spice. While they may be small there are also TONS of them on one plant. I planted this one just about a month ago and it is only about 2ft wide and 3ft tall but there are probably nearly 100 little peppers on it and another 50+ flowers that will soon be more peppers. I ate half of one of these teensy little peppers and my face was sweating pretty good. Definitely wouldn't take much to spice up a recipe. Apparently the spice level increases with the heat and humidity the plant grows in. Which means this is not even close to the peak spiciness these will achieve. One thing I read stated they can range from a little bit hotter than a cayenne on the low end to hotter than a habanero on the high end.The second photo of the plants is showing another plant I'm a big fan of currently in the foreground, the scorpion tail. The way the tiny little white flowers grow on that scorpion tale thing is so cool. Just behind it is the bird pepper and you can see if you zoom in the little red peppers are all over.

Ok, new dream device. Dual screen Palm OS PDA with monochrome screen on one side and color on the other. Think if you smooshed together a Palm m500 and a Tungsten C and gave it a real 3.5mm headphone jack.

I've spent a fair amount of money on plants lately. But the goal is to turn that into an exponentially larger amount of money that I don't spend on fruits and veggies in the future.

So far I've been cataloging my plants on my PDA. I feel like I should take better notes going forward about what I'm doing with each plant and what does and doesn't end up working.

@lypanov Hey! Sorry I forgot to respond to this. I think I do have a little tool I found that converts txt to epub without calibre. I will try to find it tomorrow if you're still curious.

Did some "serious" gardening this morning. Planted seeds with the kids, planted some more seeds on my own, planted a new wildflower, scattered some more native wildflower seeds in some opportune spots to see what grows, took cuttings to propogate a few things and got the seed pots and cuttings setup in a handy stand with a handle. Oh and the garden had a new butterfly species visit.

Built a trellis for my muscadine grapes this morning using a long bamboo pole I found set out for the trash.

The hazards of gardening: Picked a berry that was ripe and tossed it in my pocket for a second* because my hands were full. Forgot about it and now I have berry bits in my 3.5mm headphone port.

Almost 20 years on and this is still my preferred travel entertainment companion. Still out does smartphones and modern handhelds in a number is ways. Charging? That's 15 hours of continuous gaming, movies and music right there.

Hoo boy, got a lot of stuff done in the garden today. Planted some neat little native ground cherries and was able to separate out 5 extra plants from the pots they were in. Bought 3 ground cherry plants, now have 8. Score. Planted some pepper plants that I started from seed. Planted a Calamondin tree that I started from seed. Planted some Luffa, Bottle Gourd and Nasturtium seeds. Planted a bunch of wildflower and herb seeds in a seed starting tray. I also potted up some Jackfruit trees that I started from seed that were almost outgrowing their pots. Propogated a couple Mulberry trees via cuttings. Harvested a few carrots for the kids to eat for a snack this evening. PS. I'm filthy and need a bath.

Some observations in the garden today:- The Barbados cherry is starting to flower with a good dozen or so blooms and hopefully more to come. Yay!- Found 4 good sized purple sweet potatoes bulging out of the mulch. Much faster development than I expected! I guess growing sweet potatoes quickly even over winter is a benefit of living in a pretty warm climate.- The Moringa trees I planted last summer have been flowering for a while but are now finally growing seed pods.- The Cassava is also getting ready to flower.
