@timhowes @tek So, is logging in with your 2FA as simple as going to a website on your laptop (for example), it asks for your hardware key, and then you have to insert into laptop or does tapping to NFC enable phone suffice? Or must I go for Yubikey 5 for that functionality?(Sorry if it's a stupid question!)

@timhowes @tek I listened to this being discussed on a Podcast, was shocked. I would have assumed the 2FA was final step. But surprised to find out the master password was the key to the encryption (as I understood it)

I know the little corner of the Fediverse I inhabit does not suffer from this content. But depressing to know there are those here trying to promote this. I would like to believe the federated nature of Mastodon makes this an inefficient place for them. @tek I would think Mastodon would be the place that makes the least sense to do this. But at least it helps law enforcement. These awful aspects are representative of society, not of Mastodon, really. So I do feel the authors of the paper have an agenda, no real comparisons in the paper of how bad the problem may be compared to more traditional social media sites.

I have to say that the āFirefox Multi-Account Containersā feature is one of the single most useful features I have ever come to rely on in a browser.It just saves so much hassle with keeping personal/school/work/etc. separate without any messing. @tek yeah, nothing there fills me with confidence. Lots of AI talk, but it might be just talk. Especially if they are negotiating with Google behind the scenes about having bard as the default option (thatās me taking a wild guess).
