@Gina they’re just out of the oven & cooling off. I’m very happy with the result so far! 🍪 🍪 🍪

@Gina oh, no these are extremely simple!- 1 big (over)ripe banana- 35gr flour- 50gr oatmeal - some vanilla extract- 50gr chocolate chipsPut everything except chocolate in a bowl and mash it with a fork until smooth. Add chocolate chips and mix, then place in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for 20min. Turn around after ~12min to brown them at both sides and that’s it! Not saying these are healthy, but it’s not that far off and I really like them 😋

@mike that’s a bit sad to be honest… It shows how much out of touch you can get, and how dangerous a company exec can be if they want to follow in this “technology and innovation”.

@martijnbraam yup, it’s a very confusing protocol that seems to be created to simply annoy developers who dislike pop3’s simplicity

Me to fitness coach: hey, if I’m happy with my legs, can’t I skip leg day? I hate thatApparently that’s: 1) very funny and 2) a hard no.

@mike I had to meet with 3 different security officers because we wanted to install RHEL on our dashboard pc and not windows. When they objected because they felt it was not as secure as the windows install they provided by default, I pointed to the number of servers in our management (> 1k) and the core infra services we manage for the whole company of > 4k employees. They approved.

@stevelord tbh, email is also something that went from pretty simple to extremely hard. Getting an email was accepting a connection and verifying you knew the recipient + they had space to receive the message. Now it’s a mix of nested dns lookups, starting new threads to scan text contents, new threads to scan attachments, lookups to AD, lookups to services for blacklists, keeping state to see if sender tries again, verify key signatures to check if hashes match, …

@stevelord there were harder parts as well, like keep trying for 72hours to deliver if it fails, but that’s a lot simpler to program than all the extra requirements you need now. This is what makes it hard to do imho, it forces you to not solve one problem (getting a message from someone), but solving the fact you actually don’t trust _anything_ the sender gives you and you have to make 100% sure it’s legit.

@CarlCravens I like it sometimes, sometimes not so much. I tend to ignore it if it’s the latter and don’t really mind they do it unless it’s for an extended period. I like to think this gives the artist a fresh look on some things, so in my head it makes sense to do it.

I feel like 75% of my job is to keep track of who’s not doing their jobs and poking them over and over again. I should be deploying infrastructure, but it seems I’m mostly dreaming of deploying infrastructure

Im bored, on-call and the kids aren’t here. So I’m doing what every sane and normal IT person would do:I plugged in my ancient asus 1005P eeepc and am using a usb floppy drive to install windows 95 floppy edition on it

Found the issue! When writing the images to floppy Linux uses disk caching and doesn’t actually flush it. Doing a ‘sudo sync’ after the dd command the cache is properly flushed and I’m now at disk 5 🥳

Okay, so sadly windows 95 won’t boot. The first issue is I have 1gb of memory and it can’t handle this huge amount. The fix is modifying the system.ini and limit the amount of memory pages. It certainly helped! But now it’s crashing a bit later. I found out it’s impossible to run windows 95 of a cpu this fast… But! There is a fast-cpu patch. Let’s hope this fixes it all 🤞
