       @PCOWandre Amazing indeed. In particular as they managed to throw in a few game references that even I understood (Doom, Alley Cat).

       @NanoRaptor Shows us that vi is still the most important thing being used on a Mac.

       @mjg59 At the university, a group of my co-students took a process control course. At one practical assignment, their program didn't work despite all debugging. They went to the TA and said, we have a hardware problem. Yeah right, he said, that's what they all say. Find the bug in your program.Again, debugging, TA, same answer. Then they examined the hardware and finally found a bent pin in a V24 connector. Ah, and they were EE students, not CS.

       @Jaden2 This is in my Usenet signature quote collection:Brothers should pull up their pants. You are walking by your mother,your grandmother, your underwear is showing. What's wrong with that?Come on. Some people might not want to see your underwear. I'm oneof them. -- President-elect Barack Obama("President-elect" dates it quite precisely)

       @mjg59 "Because it is there"Seriously, (without any detailed knowledge, I have to admit) I assume that requesting consent to a license if there is one is deeply ingrained in the installer logic.

       @penguin42 @davefischer Front right a 3/460 or 3/470, I guess; back left a 3/260. Maybe.

       @mjg59 Totally agree. Still for me it is a matter of joy (and admittedly vanity) to have the fastest link I can get at my place. (Which is 250/40 Mbps over VDSL with lots of vectoring. No Fiber, sadly.)1 Gbps (symmetric) would be where I'd say "that is enough", and not only because my local network isn't faster. 1 Gbps has a kind of symbolic quality of "that is *really* *really* fast", at least for people like me who grew up lusting after T1 or E1 bandwidths.

       @mjg59 I didn't, but I searched for it and the result made me grin. 😁

       So, #Dexter season 3 finale yesterday. That was a really good season, too, suspenseful, creative, beautifully written and acted. Perhaps a bit too much resolution in the end? There is little pointing towards the future except for the relationships — Dexter & Rita, and Debra's, mainly. I also wonder if there is anything further connecting Dexter and Ramon; there was definitely an opening.The downside was that I got to bed too late because I *had* to watch the finale, too. https://mas.to/@jyrgenn/112373128752212603

       @grickle Reminds me of René Marik’s Kermit. “Do you know how humiliating it is getting a hand shoved up your ass every day?!”
