@Brendanjones While I agree that the US should not be a hegemon. I have to say I don't believe the whole world should have a voice. The US might be behind Europe and a few other countries in many ways, but it is not a dictatorship. There are people suffering in the US, but there are countries where people suffer more, where democracy doesn't exist. I don't think those countries should have their voices heard.

@rakyat @liztai @Brendanjones perhaps they talk openly. I don't know. But they certainly don't have a say in who their country is run, much less if they're from Xinjiang. If you speak your opinion online, or to a party official, you will be reeducated. Authoritarians don't allow dissent.

@linmob @semiprime Not all repos for mobile Linux are on GitHub. In fact, GNOME projects are on their GitLab. Mobian and PostmarketOS are on the Debian and main GitLabs respectively. Some stuff is on GitLab, some stuff on SourceHut.In addition to this, mobile support for Linux apps is way more mainstream with GTK4 + Libadwaita, so apps may support it, without necessary being tagged as such.

I have an Android phone at the moment, but plan on switching to a Linux phone in the future. However, unfortunately not everything is available on it, even through websites.For example, DeepL's website has no support for translating images, yet its proprietary mobile app (which is also obviously only available on iOS and Android), does.How do you mobile Linux users workaround these kinds of issues? How would you translate an image using your mobile Linux device, without writing all the text?

@cjr I tried Frog on my PinePhone, using an image taken with Megapixels. So, admittedly, the quality it's working with is not high at all.Regardless, the result was quite awful. Aside from the words not being recognised correctly, which might be a quality issue, Frog doesn't stick lines from the same sentence together. That makes it not very useful for translation.But all this aside, maybe Dialect could add support for OCR itself? Maybe by learning from Frog? @rafaelmardojai

Does anyone know of a free and open source launcher for Android 14 that is basically just the stock launcher, except with the ability to hide apps? I use GrapheneOS, and this is the only thing I'm missing.

@stux I strongly believe every nuclear reactor in the world should be shut down. Technologically-speaking, they're incredible. But they're also dangerous and produce forever waste. With that being said, we shouldn't shut down a single functioning nuclear power plant until we have replaced all fossil fuels with renewables.
