The worst part of middle age, by far, is haircuts. They never work. I’m always seeking the one that will stick, that will be the way I cut my hair from now on. But the hair never cooperates, it just goes on changing and getting more difficult to manage. It’s not like the hair is “good,” it just gets really “bad” if left untended. Also, sneakers. They used to fit normally. Now they’re never right.

@erdanton @alisynthesis Yes! I went through pair after pair thinking, wow, the quality is really tanking. Eventually realized it was my feet that was the problem.

@killyourfm @erdanton @alisynthesis I nerded out hard on this stuff last year! And I was convinced that I could only wear 0mm heels forever. Not sure if that's totally true but they still feel best :)

@akahn Yeah we bought in 2010 and we’re lucky. We have a big house that fits everyone and we can afford it. But it’s old and always falling apart and it’s never ending. Newer houses are just so appealing. And so much more.

@LadyDragonfly As a lot of other Jewish people have said, we can call attention to the brutal treatment of trans people without drawing explicit comparisons to the Holocaust. I know you mean well but it's damaging.

@LadyDragonfly "They came for trans people first" is both not historically accurate and significantly downplays the fact they came for the Jews first and foremost. Other peoples' were targeted and slaughtered but this was a Jewish holocaust.

@essjay You reported me to my own instance. Anyway. Nowhere did I deny what happened to LGBT+ people during the Holocaust. Indeed, they were the unfortunate victims as well as Jews and many others. If you read my posts as Holocaust denial that is quite the leap. I do, however, take issue with the current trend of comparing genocidal actions toward trans people (which I believe are happening) with the actual actions of the Nazis during the Holocaust. But whatever, report away.
