@elotroalex well, there are different types of Marxisms and not all of them agree with one-way causality idea....but, more importantly, what do you mean that there is no incentive for faculty to collaborate? Whats the incentive for not collaborating?

@TedUnderwood @afamiglietti79 @Jonathanglick @MattHodges I think the reason why the automobile analogy fails is because even though we didn't get the flying automobile, cars completely reshaped our cities and communities in ways that no other invention before it had been able to do it--and we don't want a repeat of that.
