@twizzay Ubuntu is the best way to go IMO. It's already very Mac-like, has good aesthetics, and its popularity makes support easier.You might want to let him try it out in a VM on his MacBook before having him actually take the plunge.

It just hit me like a ton of bricks just how Mac-like #Ubuntu is. In literally 2 clicks I had a Dock without all the dumb inconsistencies that Apple has introduced.At the same time, I couldn't be a Mac user because macOS window management isn't just bad, it's painful.

@mmu_man Yeah, snap isn't perfect, for sure. I've had similar experiences with flatpak, too. I much prefer apt to either one... it just works.

One of the hardest things #Jesus ever taught: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. In modern terms, this could be reframed as 'love those who are a threat and pray for those who actively make your life harder.'Of course, right now that feels next to impossible, especially in the current political climate in the US. Ouch.Then again, many of those who need to hear this wouldn't listen anyway. *sigh*

Wow. What a couple of weeks! Medical stuff, we put in an offer on a house, started prepping for moving, and all the while, and I was approached by a recruiter for an amazing job that would be a big raise and only be a 20 minute commute from the new place.And, of course, this is all while everyone is ramping up for the holidays. Yeesh. Stop the world, I want to get off.
