@lauren I disagree. I could imagine circumstances where a Tesla on Autopilot plowing into my house could be a good thing. #remodeling #lawsuit #newcar

@simon FWIW, "search engines" also can't tell truth from fiction and reward 3rd party sites which actively invent materials using low paid writers or by spinning other sites using AI. This type of disambiguation is possible more honest and it's easy to say "don't trust the AI" than don't trust all of the BS publishers.

@Jbat Excellent article but I think you kind of skipped over why Google grew so quickly in the first place. "Relevance" was the word the search industry used but I think that was a proxy for TRUST. We used to trust Google results 100X more than anyone else.Bard and Sydney have both proven they are far from trustworthy and while I agree Google needs to go all in on AI conversational search, first they need to figure out how to make it trustworthy.

@Jbat Microsoft, OTOH, long ago abandoned brand position as trustworthy. IMO, users think of MS mostly as an unavoidable presence to learn to live with.Sydney/ChatBING is amazing... and novel but I don't think the reputational impact of bad answers will hurt Bing; if only because most of us assume Bing results are 2nd rate.

@KimPerales The sitting US President running for re-election is supposed to blackmail FOREIGN governments to investigate his leading opponent. The DOJ should only be used to investigate your opponent's children.

@onan @pluralistic Membership prices haven't changed in 3 decades... and it pay for itself almost immediately with parking slack. Best of all, once you are a member, you can sell memberships to your friends and family.

@cwebber Hello, this is Bing. I can help you with your questions. blushActivityPub is an open, decentralized social networking protocol that allows different websites to communicate and share content with each other. It is based on the ActivityStreams 2.0 data format, which defines a standard way of representing social activities and objects on the web.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ActivityPubhttps://seb.jambor.dev/posts/understanding-activitypub/Federation is a concept in which multiple independent entities (such as websites, organizations, or countries) form a union or alliance for a common purpose. In the context of ActivityPub, federation means that users on different websites can send and receive updates from others across the network, without having to create accounts on each site. This creates a more diverse and open social web, where users have more control over their data and interactions.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediversehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation
