My little sister had her garden devoured by deer last year. Not this time, but she has one of the least ideal locations for it. Sandy soil, maybe 4' of level ground, then a 30° of more hillside, also mostly sand.Not even sure how deer were able to be remotely sure footed enough to get down there...

I don't have onion maggots, but I'm hoping to get the bugs that like to infest other crops, or at least reduce the likelihood of any large problem with non-pollinating insects.

Can anyone recommend work gloves that are good for more than a half dozen uses?I've probably spent $200 on gloves the past six months trying to find a pair that weren't utter garbage after a couple days of use. Seams coming apart, etc. Expensive gloves, cheap gloves, they all perform about the same, which is super disappointing.Granted, I have small hands, and expect the gloves to not remove all manual dexterity or make me ham-fisted just by putting them on...

Reminder: after the initial investment to reload ammunition, the cost per round is considerably lower. Gathering spent brass from public shooting ranges is an excellent way to further cut those costs.I have a 5 gallon bucket of 5.56/.223 brass, and another of 9mm, that will outstrip my ability to ever be able to find the time to reload them. Also, us helps to cut the costs of your ammo overall.

What fun it is to build a retaining wall, by yourself, after working all day on mentally exhausting tasks.At least with manual labor, at the end of the day, there is some evidence that something was accomplished, unlike the day job. 😕Granted, the photos are the culmination of a couple weeks of effort after hours. If this was one day, I'd be elated.

So I'm in a relatively rural area, without a history of a lot of air traffic, despite a couple small airports in the region.I've noticed that in recent weeks, several different small single engine aircraft, of the Cessna-esque variety, have been making *multiple* passes over my house and in general of the area in very close proximity to my home and property, as well as my neighbors.I fly them the bird, but see this as surveillance. I ponder what to do about it, however, if anything.

Could use some prayers for my father who is in the hospital with pneumonia and is on oxygen. He had the bottom lobe of his right lung removed because of cancer a few years ago, so this is particularly difficult. 🙏

Made a wonderful discovery today: compulsory meetings in which you have no reason to actually be required to attend are excellent blocks of time to use for reloading ammunition. Got around 80 rounds of 300BLK loaded during the otherwise wasted part of my day. My home office also being my reloading room finally pays off!

"Wildfires" my ass. Arson I think is what you would call fires with a human origin when there is no known cause. Even when there are other fires nearby that suddenly are encapsulated by another, larger, named 'incident.'Been absent due to lack of power and putting out hot spots on my and my neighbor's properties.Came to within 50' of my garage shop, but others were not so fortunate. Thanking God for my home and buildings having been spared.
