To the old man driving instructor who smelled like cigarettes and made teenage me cry when he freaked out and grabbed the wheel because I was changing lanes "too fast" on the highway:Screw you, jerk. I got a perfect score on my actual driving test. I've been driving for over a decade now and I've never gotten a ticket. I've only been involved in one minor fender bender, and that was the fault of a deer leaping across the road at night in a place where no one expected to see a deer. I didn't do anything remotely dangerous on that highway and you scared me when I was already nervous. I hope other new drivers weren't subjected to your crappy, otherwise half-asleep attitude for much longer.

Everything I've learned about Heated Rivalry has been unintentional, but to be honest, I highly doubt they got actors who look like real hockey players.

I've now seen two different TV shows make a joke about "Caitlyn" Jenner being male. The conceits were veiled in transition language, but Jenner once being recognized as male was part of the joke.

It's an incredibly shitty feeling to know that if I ask someone to cover my classes because I'm sick, they're not saying no because they have a prior engagement or can't handle it physically themselves. It's because they refuse to teach children. Period the end. Never. Not even for ONE DAY out of 10 weeks. And I know this because they told me, one person indirectly, sure, but another said it STRAIGHT UP. Then they have the gall to regard my classes as easy enough to teach, physically and mentally, that I can do a bunch of dancing for their classes too. "If your feet hurt, just do less in your classes. Go easier with the kids." You have NO RIGHT to say that to me or disregard MY students like that. You, who only teach adult classes, which also happen to be the most stable and most PROFITABLE.I'm incredibly resentful at this point. I've given up on asking them for help, and that has led me to refuse to help them when they ask. I honestly don't even want to do the performances they expect me to be in anymore. They're not going to like it when I start saying, "no" without any justifications or excuses.

The conversation around these books is an interesting one. Female writers work under greater scrutiny of being inclusive and being inclusive "correctly." There are also concerns around age demographics and how they interact with "problematic" content.Books like these spurred the creation of a demographic term in between YA and General (adult) fiction called New Adult. The writing style and themes led some Romantasies to be marketed as YA, but the more graphic violence and sex upset parents of teen readers. None of the books involved, as far as I'm aware, were written by men. So male-targeted genre fiction was either never mismarketed as YA, or it was but no one cared. Male-oriented books with explicit sex scenes can also exist without being called "gooner books" because male-sexuality has been normalized.https://vexxed.org/o/Books/7881/romantasy-sexy-tales-of-women-centred-fantasy-fiction-are-boosting-the-publishin

Just saw a touring tap dance group. Very highly regarded, all female. Good stuff. One of the dancers had short pink hair in one of those shaggy, mullety cuts with semi-shaved sides, septum and belly-button piercings, tattoos, and loose-fitting clothes. What pronouns were used for this dancer in the program?

If the first part of your video about why the ending of How I Met Your Mother went horribly wrong is just rambling about how transphobic the show is in retrospect to justify continuing to enjoy it, I'm not going to watch it.

One of the few advantages of being a dance teacher is you can show up to work looking like you just woke up and no one questions it.

I'm not surprised by Chappel Roan's fake nipple piercing look at the Grammy's (or whichever award show it is, I genuinely don't care) considering she credits most of her style to drag queens.

https://vexxed.org/o/Women/8118/straight-bi-autistic-ladies-would-you-date-an-autistic-man"Men are so comfortable with foisting their problems off onto women, and acting aggrieved when they aren't 'accepted for who I am.' Of course autism is immutable, but I've never met an autistic man who was trying to learn new coping skills or be more socially acceptable, such as by learning basic conversational manners or thinking 'Is my behaviour inconveniencing other people?'"I'm sorry to say that this comment quote sounds a lot like my brother. He's got earbuds on CONSTANTLY now. If you try to talk to him he gets pissed off because you're "interrupting," but then halts a conversation and makes you repeat yourself if he wants to be included. He'll laugh at a podcast out of the blue SO LOUDLY it's genuinely scary. You can't say anything about it because he's been "shamed" (privately told to tone it down a bit) for being "too much" (disrupting a quiet room) and "shouldn't you want me to be fully myself and feel happiness?". He'll have the earbuds on full blast, making him 10x louder doing anything and completely oblivious to the world, and then claim he's a quiet person with sensitive hearing that rivals mine.

I do try to be sympathetic to parents at the theater, but can they PLEASE make sure the show/movie is age appropriate for their children? And I'm not even talking about sexual content, violence, or anything like that. If a child cannot follow what's happening narratively without help, because it's currently too sophisticated in concept, they shouldn't be in that theater. You cannot expect a child to have, or learn, good theater etiquette when they don't understand what's happening in front of them. They're going to get bored and be disruptive. They're going to ask you what's happening CONSTANTLY. Shushing them isn't going to help. They're going to kick the seats. They're going to do anything to not feel bored and it's not going to be fun for them or anyone sitting near them.

@Biff I've had this issue at movies too, and it's no easier to take there. A guy brought his son to the first Star Wars sequel trilogy movie and the kid didn't know who anyone was or what they were doing. The kid was too young to understand STAR WARS.

@ninafromcanadaeh @HebrideanHecate I assume that's what she meant, but the next phrase makes it come across like she thinks everyone who says they're heterosexual is in denial about something. In other words, if you don't claim to be kweer in some way, you're lying to yourself. You're incomplete. A man can't say he's heterosexual and then freely admit to liking musical theater, seeing beauty in other men, or taking on "female" gender roles. A woman can't dislike femininity and be attracted to men in a "straight way." It's all sterotypes at the end of the day. She's not a gay man and never will be, but she likes to identify her attraction as such because she has a generalized image of gay men in her head that seems more like her or what she wants to be than the generalized image of other staight women she has in her head.
