@fitheachBecause being paid big bucks to argue against policies and do fuck all is cushty..I think Jezza has demonstrated that in Lahndan aspiration doesn't exist and powerful lobbyists (perhaps) can easily quell even the most populist of policy ideas.

@fitheachYep, it's almost like he is auditioning for the the role of Scotland's national football team striker.. all he needed to do was grow a rat-tail..

While I remember, tonight I met (in Kochi, Shikoku, Japan) a fellow member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society! The proprietor of Kochi's first SMWS affiliated pub!

@fitheachNot sure that it ever was more expensive (just s myth I think) but due to the enormous duty put upon Scottish whisky in the UK it is (and has been for the 12+ years that I have been visiting Japan) much, much cheaper to buy Scottish whisky in Japan than in Scotland.

Single computer fans: please help an old dog out by suggesting which federated services can comfortably run on SBCs.. I know that for my purposes, probably pleroma is good.. but looking for other examples if possible (is nextcloud really viable?)PiHole and similar services aside.. I'm interested in activitypub services providing for:* Federated social networking* photo album hosting* Email server* Multi-functional nextcloud* Blogging (plume?)* Matrix?* Funkwhale?* Anything else..

@orbifxThanks! Disabled matrix on my multi-purpose server a while back and use prosody for xmpp at the moment.. easily lightweight enough. Good suggestion.

@orbifxI also already have an email server (mail-in-a-box) on a cheap vps.. not sure whether I should move this to an SBC though as it is likely that in the he future we'll need to live with in laws for about a year whilst our house gets built.. not convinced that their flaky internet would be good for such a crucial service.. so may keep the vps until such a time that we can move into our own house in Japan

@fitheachI had that at the back of my mind too, I think I'll leave it where it is and focus on moving the services from my home server and mor expensive vps in the meantime.@orbifx

I'm returning to Scotland this evening in the belief that we have in the last 3 weeks attained independence from the UK and secured our continuing place in within the EU.. Given my extreme tiredness and the kindness of the fediverse I think the most appropriate response to this toot would be polite acknowledgement and enthusiastic agreement.. and of course a warm welcome home 😄

Looking at my failed worker request for following my pixelfed account via sidekiq and the error returned includes the url https://mastodon.dmrty.fr/inboxas do a number of other failures - not sure why that url would be returning an error and potentially preventing the follow between two of my own instances..

almost all of the worker retries have one of the following errors: Stoplight::Error::RedLight: Delivery failed for https://mastodon.dmrty.fr/inbox: https://mastodon.dmrty.fr/inbox

@fitheach I have a few of those errors too but I don't think they are related (but I don't know).. I have checked and no-one on my instance is being followed or is following anyone on the mastodon.dmrty.fr domain so not sure why almost every failure relates to that domain.

@fitheach I gather that it is related to one of the relays that my instance pushes to and probably not the underlying issue of why I can't follow my pixelfed account from my mastodon account.

@fitheach I think the error may have been a red herring and not related to the issues I'm having. There isn't yet a known working configs for pixelfed as it's still in alpha.. had to roll back to php 7.2 from 7.3 because the latter isn't supported so no help to resolve issues.Postgresql is also not supported but there seems to be more willingness to investigate issues with it.. may be down to both instances using the same IP address.. but mastodon\pleroma work fine together on the same.
