@djsumdog Interesting, thanks. I've tended to use only wired devices with desktops, which is simpler but leads to a bit of a tangle sometimes!

@byllgrim They sell peanuts at the stations and on the longer trains, so sure. Someone who is non-contact allergic to peanuts is going to be prepared for being out in public in the first place, sadly.

@kelbot I don't think there is a difference, in terms of what software is available today; all the tiling window mangers are also dynamic; i.e. you can change the layouts whenever you like.Floating windows are a nod to things like modal dialogs, which need attention, and there aren't many ways to give it to them. Using floating windows for a long-run task seems inappropriate ... but they're familiar for popups.

@sir That looks like a good use of compositing in a window manager ... perhaps we could also measure 'weight' by the non-black pixels in a window as well?

@sir So if the terminal cleared leaving just the prompt at the lower left, in its final position from that vid it might tip over again? Cool!

@ky0ko If your contract extends, how much notice do you need to give to get out of it?Can you survive if you didn't extend it, and didn't get a job immediately (usually the answer is no)?Do you like the place you're working at?You're running it close to get a completed job offer in two weeks time, most people seem to move more slowly than that ...

@ky0ko Because no-one owes you anything, I'd *always* wait to see a signed offer before jumping. I'd also recommend not even getting *excited* until you see the signed offer either, although that's harder ...How late can you put off re-signing? Can you ask for a gap of a few weeks? Will your dream job person wait for you to say 'yes, in 6 months time'?Are you willing to risk all this to just move to Seattle *without* any confirmed financial stability?

@ky0ko As long as you're thinking carefully (which it sounds like you are) and you have a workable backup plan that will give you food & shelter in Seattle, you have good options. Sometimes just *having* good options is enough of a buffer against the world, because you're not powerless if you have options.Good luck 🙂

@ky0ko If your drives are encrypted, you don't have to delete them, so much as you just have to 'forget the key' ...

@ky0ko @foxwitch If you know where you're going, it may also be cheaper to ship the extra bag ... slower perhaps and a little more stress, but cheaper ...

@vik Excellent. The balance needs to be more considered than it is at the moment; although as a non-shooter I don't have any understanding of how firearms are used as tools, I know we need to listen to more people on the topic. And bad people will use any tool available to do bad things regardless.
