@twizzay when our daughter was born, the next summer we put her down for a nap in a pram in a corner of our small yard and a few times then started mowing the lawn. Back then we still had a petrol lawnmower. We got a few laughs out of her ability to sleep in noise. Yes, she has normal hearing, except when inattentive listening 😅

@twizzay in Finland we have this "different" way of getting babies to sleep... Road noise -> baby sleeps outside. Construction site next door -> baby sleeps outside. -20°C weather -> baby sleeps outside.Heat wave and wolves are the two exceptions to the rule I can think of off the top of my head. 😅

@twizzay it's just a matter of proper clothing and closing the opening with a thin cloth. The prams actually come here with extra insulating cover and there's the option of really warm sleeping bags.Kids sleep better in fresh air, science says. 😅

@twizzay @10leej my career could have been quite different if the company I started in in 1998 wasn't using a Redhat server. All the work had to be done on terminal connection to the server.I wish I had known about Emacs or vi, but we got forward with just 'joe'. 😅

@randahl in Finland we have the law protect the sanctity of religion. UN gives us some shit for it being against free speech. It's not without it's faults, but even as a radical atheist I find it a good thing if it prevents people from burning Qur'an's and churches and shitting on crosses. Better to have civil discussion about the religions and their status than have the representatives of "opposing" religions at each other's throats. Really stupid to just rile others up on purpose.

@twizzay Airplane is the ultimate fucking torture device.Ok, so I've been suffering from UC for 20 years. Imagine the worst diarrhea you've ever had, but for 20 years day in, day out.Then imagine being put inside an aluminum tube with a hundred other people. Then they offer some food, coffee, tea, whatever. A few minutes later they close the fucking toilets and start shaking the tube. Probably to see who loses it first.
