@clive It's been trained on lots of citations, so it can fake them really well! ChatGPT's productions have about as much information as a mountain stream, and for the same reason. It gets from here to there, delivers whatever is caught up in it, is easily polluted, and you are stuck with whatever it gives you.

@Prof_Trixie The music of Columbia Double Disc Records is the music itself, not merely our idea of what we can make the people think music ought to be!
Sept 10,1908I have one of these too - I think there are LOTS of them out there.

@clive Masks are good at keeping the wind out of my face and even a paper one was more warm than a drippy wool balaclava!

@clive “If I wasn’t real,” Alice said—half-laughing through her tears, it all seemed so ridiculous—“I shouldn’t be able to cry.”“I hope you don’t suppose those are real tears?” Tweedledum interrupted in a tone of great contempt.-- Lewis Carrol, ahead of the curve as usual.

@clive @simon It's pretty speedy and of course, being all-in-one means I don't have to chase down dependencies to get it to work. LLMs have to digest a vast number of sentences in order to get an idea of what grammar is, and as a side effect, palimpsests of those training sentences remain in the data. I'd like to familiarize it with my own writing, I guess I have to find a trainer that can build a compatible checkpoint.

@shiflett If you have a dictionary file, you can search for these with(ri->n example) fgrep 'ri' dict.txt | fgrep -v "'" | sed "s/ri/n/" | xargs -I % egrep -w '^%$' dict.txt

@Prof_Trixie I'm considering 3D printed frames, but all I see are super expensive ones.

@khleedril @tubetime I was going to ask, is that HELLO WORLD in EBCDIC or some BDC-to-alphabet code that predates it, since that's the "Extended" BCD code? For you ASCIInauts and UNICODErs, EBCDIC has convenient gaps in its character mapping that make sense I guess if you haven't embraced binary enumeration.
