@strypey @blogdiva @RickiTarr To tell, the truth, I think having root be a little hard is actually a good idea. I had to learn a bunch of stuff before I could do it. Learning that stuff gave me enough knowledge that I was in less danger of ruining my devices. The big thing is that the information to do it should be available from trustworthy sources.

@GW Bullshit. Ukraine is not Vietnam. Russia is a invader who has been coveting Ukraine for decades. Their puppet in Ukraine was kicked out in a popular revolution, and now they are taking revenge by invading. It's sad to see Counterpunch publishing an apologia for an imperial power based only on residual hatred for the US. The class analysis is bizarre, as they are supporting an end-stage capitalist regime that oppresses its own people purely on the basis that it is not the US.

@lowqualityfacts I have gotten out of a ticket by making a cop laugh. Georgia, 90 in a 65 on a motorcycle, he saw my plate and license were from WA, asked me what I was doing in Georgia, I said "I went out for a ride and I haven't gotten home yet."

@stux I'm a fan of Kai Rysdall's Marketplace, but about a year ago they went nuts over crypto. I was appalled that anyone could get sucked in so late, particularly a group of people who seem so savvy. I only listen to podcasts when I'm doing mindless work like driving, though, so I'm out of the loop now as to where they stand.

@tante If we are considering how to make AI benign, maybe LLM is not the right path, given that languages reflect human reasoning with all its irrational flaws. My general position is that a truly rational being would see that altruism is the least dangerous policy.
