@blackfinalboi It depends on what you're looking for in your #ttrpg experience. If you want a fantasy adventure, #Ironsworn is a popular #SoloRPG. There are also journaling games, like Thousand Year Vampire, which is a series of vignettes across a long stretch of a vampires (un)life. And then there are card-based prompt games. I love A Weekend in the Country (murder mystery) for that.Links in next toot.1/2

@blackfinalboi Ironsworn: https://www.ironswornrpg.com/The base game is free. There's also a scifi version, Starforged. I've never played them, but a lot of people like them.Thousand Year Vampirehttps://thousandyearoldvampire.com/I haven't played this, but you can get a feel for it from this awesome art project: https://www.olddog.games/A-Thousand-Years-of-VampireA Weekend in the Countryhttps://lari-assmuth.itch.io/a-weekend-in-the-countryI've played this a lot. Check out my #SessionReport to get a feel.https://diceystories.com/murder-in-the-countryside/#solorpg #ttrpg #gmless

@kimu Can you share anything about how it plays? Is this a prompt-based game? Was it a 2/4 hour block of time? I've an interest in #GMLess #ttrpg that I can use for shorter blocks of time with more casual gamers, and I'm wondering if this would work for me.

#RPGaDay2024 Day 5Today I’m reflecting on the bolded word in the prompt, #writing. I podcast my group’s games, but that wasn’t my original reason for recording sessions—I just wanted the audio as reference for writing our #ttrpg adventures in novella form. It’s a fun exercise to translate the hijinks at the table into something that could make sense as a lived experience for the characters. Plus it’s a good way to remember what happened in previous sessions!https://diceystories.com/#ttrpgs

#RPGaDay2024 Day 6For a #ttrpg that is easy to use, I pick #LasersAndFeelings. It’s a simple #OnePageRPG with everything you need right there, character creation, ship creation, simple die mechanic, and adventure generator. It does assume you’re familiar with the tropes of campy scifi like #StarTrek, but if that’s not you, there are a gazillion reskins of the game you could try instead. A bunch of them are listed on the Writing Alchemy website: https://writingalchemy.net/resources/lasers-and-feelings-hacks/#ttrpgs

#RPGaDay2024 Day 16I’ve facilitated A Weekend in the Country for people with little to no #ttrpg experience, and a game only takes about an hour. In this #GMless #StoryGame you investigate an Agatha Christie like murder at a British manor using a deck-based prompts for clues. For an idea of how it plays, check out one of our session reports. We’ve enjoyed it so much that we’ve reskinned it for contemporary murders in a variety of other settings.https://diceystories.com/tag/a-weekend-in-the-country/ #ttrpgs

@NaClKnight I wonder if it is because #videogames tend to be solitary, so putting more types of power into one character lets them all be used. Whereas the #ttrpgs that are class-based look to spread power across a handful of players and disincentive overlap (or at least don't encourage it).I hadn't encountered that word gish before, but my #ttrpg preferences are class-less, so maybe that's the reason.

Getting ready for tonight's game of Foretold: In Its Shadow by @jamesmullen. Since it's a #GMless #ttrpg, that mostly means setting up a deck of cards for the prompts, reviewing the rules, and staring impatiently at the clock until my friends arrive.

Next week I have two Genesys games (GM in one, player in another) but today is #GMless #ttrpg day! For once, I won't be facilitating the session and can just relax and not worry about if I explained everything well. We'll be playing some sort of Descended from the Queen game found on https://forthedrama.com/ (which is a website I learned about from the August ttrpg prompts, so hooray for that!).

We ended up playing For My Companions (https://forthedrama.com/games/pmc) tonight. The story pulled together nicely and ended with a surprise (though not in retrospect) betrayal.Next time we get together, we'll be doing For the Ship and Its Crew. We're planning to try setting it in the Star Trek universe so that our fiction has some guardrails.#GMless #ttrpg

Beak, Feather, and Bone https://possible-worlds-games.itch.io/bfb is a #GMless worldbuilding #ttrpg where you map buildings significant to a place's factions. It comes with a default setting/sample maps, but it can also be used to flesh out an original one and create a basic map for it. We did this for our Genesys Alpha Centauri game. We listed what we already knew about the University from our campaign so far and used it as a jumping off point for a couple rounds of BFB. https://diceystories.com/university-of-chiron-worldbuilding/#SessionReport
