@poleguy @m0xEE @ozzelot @bazkie @yetzt My solution of buy a AU$80 phone and a minimum price SIM (all of which is tax deductible) so I can take those contracts, is the least-friction approach. This way it doesn't even come up, and the work phone's off when I don't wanna be reached and no work people have my private number.It's not ideal, but it's simple.For short contracts it's now usually 100% a precondition.

@roytoo I've got plenty of learned bad behaviours that have brought my parenting down way below the level I'd've wanted, but in this case it's then being aggressive and stubborn and just needing to be consistent and firm (and count the days until they leave on their gap year OE) oh wait I'm not meant to say that bit....😅

@futurebird It's just silly - the standard appliances take up room I could use for something else, use more power than I need, and (for example oven) heat up slower because to big.I've nothing against big when wanted - we'll go a huge fridge because we're in the subtropics, but I'd rather pay a little extra for something that fits my space and doesn't needlessly guzzle power to cook for just 1-2 people.

@futurebird @clarablackink It kinda does - if you have a stack of frozen pizzas and a stack of ready meals rather than the ingredients for same, 60% of your freezer space is packaging and air.When the kids run us ragged we fall back on a lot of ready meals and can run out of room.
