One of my criticisms of Picard the series is that Picard has not really been himself - part of that is he's older and gone through a lot, but some of the "spark" of the character just wasn't there. The scene between Jack and Picard in the brig is the first time in the new series where I really felt like yes, that's Jean-Luc Picard. Season 3 so far has been the show we were hoping for - hope it stays that way!#StarTrek #Picard

The drone incident over the Black Sea is a reminder that the most dangerous part in this war is not that the Russians will intentionally spark a wider conflict, but that a poorly-trained hothead will inadvertently do something catastrophic.Messing with a US drone like that could have just as well have resulted in the Russian pilot destroying his own aircraft.#Russia #Ukraine #War

Post 9/11 the right argued that the Constitution is "not a suicide pact." But when it comes to guns, the right's position is that the Second Amendment absolutely is a suicide pact. Americans are dying at a rate that al-Qaeda could not have dreamed of. Even the most basic restrictions on weapons of war are rejected out of hand by the right. I've been using @kdenlive to edit all my videos for IGOW, and wow, has that app gotten good lately. Granted, I am only doing short videos with fairly simple editing, but Kdenlive handles everything like a champ. And if I wanted to do more advanced stuff like color grading or more advanced transitions, those options are there. It's still out there and anyone can use it - https://xmpp.org/.What happened is that instant messaging protocols became irrelevant for most people because of iMessage and other services. Google Talk itself ended up dying quite quickly and never reached popular mass. The optimist in me says that the fact that the world is literally broiling and burning will finally spur some real change on climate. We can't keep pouring CO2 into the atmosphere. But the realist in me says that people will not wake up to the threat until the point where dramatic world-altering actions need to be taken. This is why I do not regret moving to Linux as my daily driver in the slightest. Windows 11 is annoying as hell, and even my Windows 10 work machine has to nag me about upgrading at least once a week.
