@thunderbird @gme very nice feature! One small thing though: the paragraph format makes it hard to see the problem at a glance. It think the point could be made much more obvious to people in a hurry if the differing URLs were presented as a list. Something like:Warning! The text and destination differ.... • it says: http:...... • it goes to: http:.....

@urusan Email. Not completely joking (but yes, a bit), I usually say "Mastodon", but try to always point that federated protocols are the foundation of the internet. BGP, DNS, SMTP, heck, even HTTP! are all federated and decentralised.

@eliasr @geerlingguy We've heard many times that the "free" in "free software" is not about price but about freedom. What isn't said often is that that freedom is not for the users, not even for the developers. It's the software itself that is kept free. The purpose of the GPL and the whole free software movement of to prevent software from being "captured" by comercial interests. That's why the GPL restricts the freedom of users, to always let software to "escape" and grow beyond any user.

@lethalbit it's the best! For me it's part of what makes hacking for fun different from day job.It makes me feel I'm on charge of my data, not having to trust external services if I don't want to.

@dave bummer.. I interpreted the headline as "talking about ai makes them loose 75%"But I guess it will take time for ai to get where nft is now.(Of course, I'm talking about the current hype of garbage generators. Real AI research is a completely different subject)

@niconiconi @moffintosh @PRNE @kalleboo This. Not only in Japan, but several countries of Latin America. We're not so worried about grounding, not because negligence, but because the wiring doesn't have live/neutral wires. They're both insulated. In fact, shoddy grounding can be worse than none at all, because it can expose high voltages to the user.

@thc It surprises people that CF can see (and modify) the plain HTML even under https, but if you think about it, any CDN has to do that to be able to cache content.Same as with a VPN, using a CDN requires some amount of trust. Unfortunately, it only requires trust from one side (the backend service) and not the other (the end user), which doesn't have any say in the outcome.

@simon AI has long been an ill-defined term. Lots of things came from AI research and aren't considered such today. Instead of fighting or defending the term itself, focus on separating hype from facts, and keep harm out of the way of vulnerable people. That alone is extremely hard work

@futurebird 3, absolutely. 1 is just trying to kill yourself. Tempting but no.Pomodoro just means I'm getting more anxious as the next break time approaches. With each repetition the focus-killing time gets longer and longer until it consumes all the time.
