In college we had computers with no HDDs, just 2 floppies, 4 color EVGA monitors and a beep-beep speaker. The comp-sci guys living across the hall managed to get a sound card working and played an Indiana Jones video game. It was the first time I heard real music played from a computer through speakers.I just heard that theme song on a news story and I was instantly back in my dorm room. #nostalgia #oldtech

#LibreOffice 6.2 has been out for a couple of weeks now, including the official release of the new "Tabbed (notebook) Toolbar." For those M$ Office users, it's very "Ribbon-like."I've used it now for a while and I'm pleased. It's nice to have all the tools in one spot rather than drilling through menus.Like anything new, it changes workflow, so there's some adjustment time. Works fine, looks great.

@ChrisWere I've totally been in that same corner before. A new version of something comes out, I jump right in, and it won't work with my graphics card and dual monitors. Switch to some other distro, scanner doesn't work.

Growing up in the U. S., I wasn’t exposed to the metric system until high school. As many of my fellow students fought it, being an intelligent guy I saw the beauty of decimal based measurements in a decimal number system. So I ask:Why can’t we have metric time? Wouldn’t that be great?#metric #time #science #math

@fatboy I don't really know how it would work. Others have pointed out that the French tried this around 1760; they had 10 hour days and 10 day weeks, 10 months.

I've been using KeePassX for years for password management. As per a recent video from @switchedtolinux , I see we now have KeePassXC, a new fork.Trying out #ubuntu 19.10 KeePassX takes around 20 sec to launch. I thought maybe it was one of those sneaky "snaps", which always load slow on the first launch. Nope. Tried XC and it launches instantly.https://keepassxc.org/

@fribbledom So many times I've Internet searched a non-Arch Linux problem and ended up on the Arch Wiki, usually getting my answer.
