@nafnlj There seems to have been a similar issue before, and some users have mentioned something similar happening when the Jetpack plugin (or rather, some of its functionality) is in use. https://github.com/pfefferle/wordpress-semantic-linkbacks/blob/88bc8f977ccf0e5885a62df83cbc2089c48d0f9c/README.md#391 You could try to disable “facepiling” likes and boosts (and have them show up as “regular” comments). Under Settings > Discussion, I believe? @pfefferle

@urusan It depends. Salaried work: probably 40 or so, I’d have to look that up. (Guessing you don’t wanna go into perks, vacation days, pension, etc.) Freelance: definitely 50+

@kev Exactly, I wanted to do “IndieBlocks” for the plugin name, thinking there’d surely be more blocks—one per post type, give or take—but then I figured out I would really only need a “Context” block plus some core blocks, and wrap those all in a template. Although if you wanted to go bit further, and add slightly fancier HTML (for reposts or checkins, etc.), dedicated blocks start making sense again. It’s all _very_ WIP.

@kev @xelle There’s a “Jekyll Exporter” plugin for WordPress, too. Works rather well. (I believe I had to tweak it a tiny bit to get it to also export some custom post types and post meta.)

@elgg Interestingly, Automattic are named the “makers of WordPress,” and Matt Mullenweg “Automattic’s co-founder.” 🙃

Haha, good luck.

Which is fine. Laat ze daar maar sudderen. Ik hoop alleen dat media dan ook gaan stoppen met er hun ‘nieuws’ te halen. LinkedIn en 4chan halen ook het journaal niet, en terecht.)

“Mastodon will never work ’cause most people will choose to stay on Twitter” is … sort of pathetic?I’ve been here for years and love the lack of politicians and pundits. Please, stay the f—k away. Mastodon is doing just fine.Granted, I’ve never felt part of “most people.”Also, ever heard of MySpace?

Not at all! It’s perfectly fine to build out *new* networks. Heck, I didn’t know *anyone* on Twitter when I first created an account there. What matters is *you have fun*.“To succeed, your entire social network has to make the move”‘Om succesvol te zijn, moet heel je sociaal netwerk mee verhuizen’ https://www.demorgen.be/tech-wetenschap/komt-er-een-online-volksverhuis-weg-van-twitter-naar-mastodon-de-vraag-is-gaan-je-vrienden-mee-naar-het-volgende-cafe~b5221b8a/

Looking into Mastodon maintenance—like keeping the (federated) statuses database from exploding—and I think I’ve finally found something IndieWeb sites (and “broadcast-only” ActivityPub actors) do better. Well, sort of.#fediverse #indieweb(https://janboddez.tech/notes/534de7bb3f)

"There has been a lot of attention given to ActivityPub as of late, to the extent that any new network software in the F/OSS community absolutely must be done as ActivityPub if anyone is going to care about it at all. [...] For the most part it means that every piece of content everyone writes needs to be replicated to every point in the federation mesh to be useful." https://beesbuzz.biz/blog/2535-ActivityPub-hot-take

My RSS and microformats aggregators also download a whole bunch of text—things I read—and my blog posts—things I write—never get deleted either, but these services grow at nowhere near the rate an extremely tiny Mastodon instance does. Should we ... not cache everything forever? (Try and create slightly less gigantic Docker images?) *exports toots and followers* *drops database* *starts over*

I’ve always liked the idea of a CMS-agnostic (!) Microsub/Micropub client, but I’d want to host it myself, because what if it goes down, and so on. But I’d then have to host the Microsub server, too. This way, I’ve only ever got to keep one (!) app running, one I was running already—my own site! (How’s that for sticking it to 3rd-party platforms?) Hooray#indieweb
