       @futurebird Seems an awful lot like the Japanese urban legends of kuchisake-onna, a vengeful spirit of a mutilated woman. From an anthropological folklore perspective, both stories fit loads of common folklore signifiers: - inhabits liminal nighttime hours - appears human but on closer inspection is inhuman - haunting caused by a spurned woman - misfortune or danger if encountered Tiktok is just another avenue for folklore to bloom

       @futurebird oh my god thank you for the follow but the closest i get to keeping ants is checking out the nest of japanese wood ants near my house my habit of breaking important things means i probably should not house a colony in my home

       @futurebird no i think these guys are formica japonicus because they're a little on the small side. the camponotus camp are pretty hefty in comparison irrc?also, no way! the large blue butterfly in the uk is a brood parasite of myrmica sabuleti in almost exactly the same fashion. i suppose it makes sense that several butterfly genera would have the same reproductive strategy. awesome.
