@Br3nda @publius @pluralistic Hmm, mine doesn’t have one. It’s an older model, but a decent brand (Bosch). I’m not sure the one in the office has it either.

@EU_Commission Yes but due to #brexit we negotiated an even better trade deal with U…. Oh, apparently not.

Oscar has gone to stay with his nephew Milo for a few days, and has already stolen his favourite spot on the sofa. I don’t think Milo is very impressed. #bordercollie #dogsofmastodon

@lowqualityfacts I love how they see the whole “you have to pick a server or even self host” but that’s literally step one of getting an email address. Idiots.

@lowqualityfacts Same happened to my young son on holiday once. After dinner the kids club staff gave out award certificates to the kids in front of an audience. “Well done Brian” it read. They couldn’t understand why we were laughing so much!

@rms It’s incredibly easy to anthropomorphise non-sentient things. I wrote a program to schedule charging my home battery given input data regarding solar panel production, weather, time of day etc, and the plan it outputs is considered and logical. It’s tempting to credit it with rational thought when describing the behaviour, but it’s literally just some if statements and maths.

@thelastpsion it’s always a tiny bit jarring when I come across late 90s to early 2000s IBM kit because it featured heavily in the beginnings of my IT career. I put literally thousands of those on corporate desks back in the day.

@thelastpsion A bit later than me. We deployed at lot of 300 GL but we had a 4 floor call centre full of PC 330, the ones with the sliding door. I built a boot floppy to auto detect the hardware and pull a Ghost image. That way, the hardware support guys could try that, and if it didn’t fix the problem, they could swap the machine out.

@foone we have a big crate of them in the back room at work. Totally useless because the dongles are all gone. Infuriating!

First lesson learned: Don’t let it probe for network and multimedia hardware. It go boom and you have to start again.

@foone This idea sounds crazy until you remember that the “taking a photo” sound your smart phone makes is a short audio recording of a mechanical camera shutter and film advance motor drive.

I am baking bread. This is bread 3.0. Versions 1.0 and 2.0 were like concrete, but still got eaten. Latest version seems to be better, and about double the size. Fingers crossed! #bread #baking #breadmaking

This is much better than the previous two. Fresh baked, still warm bread is absolutely delicious. #bread
