@Gargron A technical overview of how Mastodon/ActivityPub works would also be a nifty thing to host there. Something kinda like what the Dat project does?https://datprotocol.github.io/how-dat-works/

@Gargron The solution is clearly continuous integration. One PR merge = one deploy to thousands of instances. There are no problems with this perfect plan and everyone loves it.

@sir Open source has the weight of some 800 pound gorillas behind it. It's not threatened by some random dude misusing terminology to an extent that requires crazy vitriol out of the gate. 🙄

@alexl @bugaevc I don't think this is accurate? Windows had MSI and now MSIX and macOS has application bundles.

@ttscoff Could you work around this by using a Firefox addon to get tab info? The tab API there is half decent, at least.

@ttscoff Oh, right. Well, anything is possible if it's hacky enough. What if the addon posted to a minimal local web server whenever a tab URL changed? Then AppleScript could run curl to get the tab URLs from the server.

@Truck Isn't the "Unix" designation largely arbitrary these days? It seems like it's whatever The Open Group says is Unix. Also, the ten hasn't written as a roman numeral for years. But we're getting macOS 11 soon, hopefully ending the long pronunciation nightmare once and for all.

@abloo Oh, dang. CSP is absolutely the future of the browser security. It’s gonna be rough if extensions are subject to script injection rules.

@leip4Ier The big one is that you can't really side load extensions anymore; they have to be signed and come from the vendor's site (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-Ons, etc). This theoretically allows browser vendors to filter out (or revoke) malicious extensions, although they don't have a perfect track record.

@jeder @abloo @corbin Sort of. Firefox also exposes additional APIs to enable some popular extensions for things like tab management. It’s not an exact 1:1 implementation. I doubt they’ll enforce such a controversial restriction if they add support for v3.

@bhawthorne @0xabad1dea The Microsoft app also supports their bespoke passwordless auth system; that's probably the part they'd specifically want diagnostics on. Bad look to *require* them, though.
