I spend a lot of my time in rural mining communities in Arizona. I'm surrounded by far right corporatist politics, environmental destruction and all the other horrors of terminal capitalism. Because of this I try to focus my time on mastodon on things that are interesting, beautiful and uplifting. But sometimes I get tired and grumpy. I'm going to start tagging those posts with #grumpy so you can filter them out more easily. ❤️

@cosullivan Part of it is numbness. It's a lot easier to ignore a miserable angry post online when you're used to having to interact socially with a dude wearing confederate flag shorts. Then, there's the recognition that amplifying or participating in someone's rage, even if that rage is totally justified, has zero positive effect. I keep my focus on things that do real good. Even so, there are plenty of days when I just want to take a hammer to my phone and wander out into the desert. ❤️

I got most of the Morning Glories cleared and my reward is tomatoes! These are called Coyote Tomatoes. A semi-wild cherry tomato. They're hardy and, given water and time, produce bunches of sweet yellow fruit. #gardening #tomatoes

I mean, I get it, you can't just call people from the US Americans, after all there are other countries in the Americas. But, usians? No thanks. We already have a perfectly good word. It's Yankee or Yanks. Maybe that's a little offensive to confederate types but nobody cares what they think.
