Let's have an #introduction for the #interpeer project.The project's mission is to develop next generation, human centric internet technologies. Today, the internet is usually equated with the web. Most likely the most useful view is to see both together as a stack that enables distribution of knowledge, data and media, as well as apps. We're looking at the entirety of this.The web is centralised. By design, it's decentralised, but its design contains elements that promote centralisation.

@EC_DIGIT @EC_DIGIT_director_general Two questions:a) Why is an account blocked with a EU login? That means citizens cannot participate, such as report issues, etc. It's definitely not the FOSS spirit.b) Are there any plans to refer to (not host) projects that are (partially) EU funded, but not *from* the EU, such as those funded by @NGIZero or similar? It would probably be good to have a directory of such projects as well to boost the entire ecosystem.

@EC_OSPO Good morning!a) I asked *why* access is gated. The README merely explains that it is. It is not the typical FOSS process to require approval before being permitted to give feedback. That is the opposite of open, the O in FOSS.b) The README does not mention a directory of other EU funded FOSS, so my question remains.

A few weeks ago, the local tax authority has finally confirmed out non-profit status. Which means that Interpeer can now accept donations (and write receipts for your taxes).We're largely funded by R&D grants at the moment. Those are great, but don't easily account for admin expenses, bugfixing time, builds & porting, and all the other stuff that needs doing that isn't easy to place into a research goal.Any help is much appreciated!https://opencollective.com/interpeer

#Google is trying to #kill the #OpenWeb.Using the proposed "Web Environment Integrity" means websites can select on which devices (browsers) they wish to be displayed, and can refuse service to other devices. This is an issue for #accessibility and #inclusion, in particular when the reason the software is not available is tied to the needs of marginalized groups, such as when #poverty makes it impossible to own sufficiently modern devices, etc."Web Environment Integrity" is a deeply #antisocial proposal, and goes counter to the design principles of the web.

In all honesty, this move by Google is hardly surprising. They've been trying to capture the web as their own platform for a long time. This is just the latest battle.But it also marks a particularly perverse point, in how the proposal admits it exists primarily to extract value from people. #PeopleMining at its worst.Remember when their motto was "Don't be Evil?"
