Something that makes it possible (sustainable) for me to work in an office is my company's unlimited work from home policy. There's an expectation that being in office is the default, but anyone is free to go remote for any reason at any time. Obvs this wouldn't work for every job type out there, but for a vast number, it would be fine. @futurebird I know a programmer (highly experienced, runs a consultancy, very capable) who surprised me by being pro LLM. He said it's getting sophisticated enough that it's becoming a labor saving tool for programming. I am not a dev, although I understand its pros and cons very well in writing and graphic design, so don't have the knowledge to have an informed opinion. What are your thoughts?

@futurebird That makes sense. I feel similar, personally: as a writer, I know there are use cases where LLMs can assist in the process, which some writers appreciate, but I don't ever want that kind of assistance. I'm also disturbed by all the problems surrounding this technology as a whole, no matter how ethical or labor-saving the application may be

Hello fediverse, can anyone give me a technical deep dive on how the body uses iron? I have a friend with anemia whose iron "storage" is low, iron is on the low end of normal, platelets are high? Lotta specific terms floating around (ferritin, platelets), and the way the Internet summarizes it isn't answering questions about the actual mechanisms involved. Neither is her nurse practitioner. So she wants the deep-in-the-weeds geek explainer. #pleaseBoost for reach!

@futurebird @temptoetiam in the first phrase dog is the style of action (chasing, hunting) and bird is the object (a euphemism for the ladies). So for antbird, bird would need to be the style of action (coloquially, flitting about? not eating much? looking fabulous in feathers?) and ant would be the object, either literally or figuratively (what kind of person might be associated with ants?) Just tryin to get us one step closer here
