@ivory purchased base subscription. Works nicely on Mastodon instance. Problems on Pleroma instance. Any idea on how long basic login functionality will take for Pleroma? User token supplied upon 2 factor verification, login completes, then as cache is refreshed, wrong user data populates. Oops.

@stux agreed, however it’s not usage that’s the problem, it’s the algorithm that amplifies hate speech. Commercial social media is the problem. The last 6 years I’ve been here in the fediverse and I’ve not experienced any hate events. However, my faf.social instance is heavily curated and sources moderated.

@shansterable @shannonsays there is no global search on the fediverse. Mastodon instances can control hashtag search as well. Even turn it off. So finding people and interesting content is up to sharing, boosting and repeating. Mastodon is more like word of mouth. You have to engage to get a good timeline. This may change as we continue to grow, but for now he only content you see will be mostly posts from followers and repeats.

Closed protocols will be absorbed by open ones and rendered irrelevant over time. That time has been happening for the last 20 years. That means it's happening right now. Meta adopting or not adopting #ActivityPub wil not materially affect this ongoing process. Meta, Twitbook et al will not change the outcome. All closed source is #MySpace. I began zen (chan) meditation and yoga at age 10. I found my first martial arts teacher at 15. With almost 50 years of dedicated practice and 25 years of teaching, I consider myself somewhat proficient at piercing the veil, so to speak. clear perception and all.
