Four SIMMs, guessing 4mb. Could be 1mb, but hopefully not.This has the cheap plastic retainer tabs, they were pretty fragile even back when they were new. Can't imagine they've held up well over the years.

Can't get a good photo of the CPU, it's buried. But it's a 33mhz AMD 80386DX in the purplish ceramic package common to the era.

@ifixcoinops Two things:Facebook and Twitter have supplanted RSS for the masses. Most don't want to load up a bunch of websites, myself included.Second: news websites are nigh intolerabe and get worse by the day. The local has a paywall now & you cant read more than the hradline and first graf.I 100% underatand why people get their news by reading headlines on social media. It's often the only way that doesn't suck.

So I found this site that has some great information about Phonovision, a late-1920s format which recorded television onto vinyl records. They archived five records, from the 1927-1928 era.The website was made in 2013, and they chose Adobe Flash as the format to digitally archive the records in, so nothing can play it anymore.Just.... sigh

Yes, there's a ton of crap in all we create. And yes, we're probably preserving objectively more than at any other time. But we're also destroying more, too. Forgetting.Even crap has value, and It's impossible to know which things are worth throwing away. It's not our call. Ea-nasir just wanted some copper, and had no idea that his missive would be known and celebrated nearly 4000 years later. Even crap is important.

In other news, my friend Brian found a 14" VGA monitor at the Goodwill bins and gifted it to me (it only cost $5). Works perfectly. 1997 build date, "Icon" brand. Probably one of the cheaper options for the era, given the small size and lack of brand name.

I'm looking for a new VPS host, anyone have suggestions? Currently with DigitalOcean, but would like more value for the money.Previously used Time4VPS, they're fine, but take like a year to support new versions of Linux distros, which I didn't like.
