@NekoSock I guess that settles it.

@lis What real benefit do alternative keyboard layouts have? I think any performance improvements are subjective. They may well be more ergonomic but arguably the physical design of the keyboard is far more important for reducing RSI and most people aren't using keyboards enough for it to matter, especially now with smart phones.I say this as someone who made the switch to Colemak. I haven't noticed any speed increase after 5 years although it might have helped my wrists a bit. Too many other factors for me to say for certain though. I would probably not switch if I could go back in time, although I do think that it is better than qwerty.

@Main_Tomato Get a lawyer and sue. Alternatively, draft an official-looking letter from a fake lawyer and threaten legal action. Amazon might be too big for that one to work though. EU has a department you can report this to right? You could do that but you'll probably have to wait 5 years for anything to happen.

@Main_Tomato Well I guess it's time to abandon ship, the mongrels have caught on now. I guess the only way to keep normals out is to run on some meme network like IPFS.

@ocean I always wanted the Executor as a kid, too bad it's discontinued. It's one of my favorite starships but they're $700+ on Ebay. One day...

@Main_Tomato Can you explain why you find no/reduced immigration scary? There's a big push in the US for open borders and I don't understand why a nation would ever want this, especially as most of the people who take advantage of it are poor and low-skilled. Perhaps I'm missing something though.

@papush Yeah, Firefox sucks and I hate Mozilla but it's one of those "who else are you going to go to?" situations. Other browsers can't even handle my browsing habits and I don't think Firefox forks provide that much more utility.

@papush Yeah it's unfortunate that some tech companies get a pass because they were good in the past or something. Google was like that for a while and Tesla is like that now.

@Main_Tomato Sanders won't even be the DNC candidate. I don't like the guy, but he got screwed over in 2016 and after last night it looks like it will happen again. The Iowa fiasco reeks of corruption. The US voting system is very corrupt. The election isn't until November, right now are the Democrat primaries. Basically primaries are to weed out all but one candidate who becomes the official party candidate. The candidates who lose out can still run but they almost never do.

@0orpheus Worth pointing out that they were on Go 1.10 when they ported. Someone on Lobsters pointed out that Go 1.12 (released before they ported) may have fixed the issues they ran into.

@0orpheus Yep and there are always going to be projects where GC overhead is unacceptable. I'm unconvinced that Discord is one of those when Twitch seems to be doing fine with Go but I guess I don't know much about Discord.

I learned today that in Java `==` does pointer comparison rather than value comparison. I've never understood why you would want pointer comparison as the default, I feel that value comparison is far more common and the expected behavior. Pointer comparision is useful but I would expect it to be a method instead.

@Main_Tomato I really don't think this is a good idea. Imagine if this had happened 5 years ago, we'd be stuck with micro-usb and Apple's lightning plug had far better ux (I don't have any usb-c devices so I can't comment on how that compares). I highly doubt that usb-c is the pinnacle of cable technology and it seems to have had a lot of issues. On top of that, doesn't everyone but Apple currently use usb-c? I was expecting Apple to switch in the next year or two since they switched their laptops so this feels really heavy-handed. I think there's way more important things to legislate than cell phone ports.

@papush @Wolf480pl Most languages already have good JSON parsers so it can save time over other formats while still being efficient.I don't like JSON but with its current popularity I can understand why one might choose it now.

@lis d) teach cyclists how to spot when someone might open a door on them.We had this problem when I was a bus driver too except a bus will just take off the door and potentially kill the person in the car. They taught us to look through the rear window to try and predict if someone might open a door without looking.

@lis You're a retard. I was doing this as a bus driver at significantly higher speeds. If you're only looking 1 second ahead then you get what you deserve. Cyclists are suicidal retards who refuse to accept any blame for their idiocy. Kiss my ass
