@mike do you have any insight into how the sqlite setup works? I feel like a whole DB setup beyond that is overkill for a dozen or fewer personal repositories, but the docs are a little mysterious about whether sqlite is set up by default or I'd have to configure it myself.

People like to scoff at Victoria's public holidays like "Horse Race Tuesday" and "Day before the football match" but I think there should be MORE public holidays for ridiculous reasons that aren't overt celebrations of colonialism. I mean, everyone in Aus and Aotearoa already gets "Too Hungover to work after Christmas Day" as an official public holiday, and that's considered perfectly normal.

If your community is based on a legacy hierarchy of arbitrary prestige and exploitation, it doesn't matter whether you publish on paper, blockchain, or ActivityPub.

My fellow admins will probably lok sideways at me for saying this, but one of the things I genuinely love about the Fediverse is that sometimes servers just temporarily go down.It's a reminder that infrastructure doesn't just happen. If someone is enjoying playing with their kids, or eating dinner, or reading a book or whatever instead of maintaining five nines so we can post about doing those things ...that's Good, Actually.
