@wogan I suggest you look into the #Nextcloud fork though, which is much more active since a few years. It also includes an #office suite (similar to Google Docs/Sheets) and much more.We are running #Nextcloud happily in our corporate environment for quite some time.

@wogan This probably depends on your use case. We need it from time to time for external collaboration, yes. You can create automatically expiring public sharing links and also create a write-only file drop where external users can only store files but not see what is in the folder (only you can).IMHO both is very useful.And for those with accounts you have *a lot* of possibilites (also via installable apps) for collaboration, like "Circles" for projects, "Talk" (which is like MS Teams etc

I would suggest searching for hashtags that you are interested in (like #mastodonafrica) in your mastodon app/web interface and follow those who to you seem to be interesting.Also, there is @mastodonmigration@mastodon.onlin, (s)he also lists from time to time accounts related to certain areas of interest.@wogan

@malmorrow …and even if it will not be about them coming out, it will help them to see they can trust you when finding out about and accepting their true self, whatever it turns out to be.And having somebody to trust when you are trying to be honest *with yourself* is worth so so much.

@wogan I am not sure if anything #Meta does is really net-benefit: They have been steamrolling over everything with all technologies so far to fit their illiberal business case, using every trick possible to make sure users are as addicted as possible to their service. There is a reason why they can not even start #Threads in #Europe due to #GDPR (and this is seldomly stopping big corporate). But at the same time I doubt that defederating just out of fear is the right thing to do.
