@Matter If I forgot about that safe and private browsing at all ...What is then default provider in Chrome? Something better than Cloudflare? More safe and private? Bc. if it's like in the picture ... 'may not be available all the time' That's does not sound as safe and private at all.If you change one crap to other crap, it's hard to find out, which smells worse :)

@fitheach in my country these old ThinkPads are for double price and in condition as glued garbage ...Thought of to get one, but older that can use #libreboot however it looks, there can be some newer hardware as #opensource soon 🛠️

@fitheach no problem. UK keyboard is probably ISO layout the same used across Europe. US ASCII is probably somehow more comfortable bc. of left SHIFT and closer ENTER, on other side ENTER is bigger. That's not the issue.Will probably check market soon. Thinking of x200 or T400. Don't need yet, as I use desktop and not a big fan of notebooks. But that can change as I move often this time.

@redstarfish hope that we can have completely free and open source all hardware/software soon.It's even hard to know how close it is, bc. so many projects market as free and open source, while it's mostly still just hacky/tweaky around closed firmware.

@redstarfish there is hidden maybe even worse danger in that hardware/software.It makes one feel, that it's safe, secure, private ... while it's not.Let's take one popular example.Firefox/Chromium watching Netflix on Ubuntu, Intel processor and iGPU.Intel can do whatever they want, nobody knows what can do manufacturer of motherboard. User is watching DRM video.How far is that user from #security #privacy and #foss ?
