How is it even within the bounds of philosophical discipline? The existentialists might dismiss the question of existence as unanswerable, but even they wouldn't call it taboo.

I'm not reading too much into Obama and Trump laughing at Carter's funeral, besides that it was a funeral for someone most Americans are mourning and laughter wasn't appropriate. I don't like Trump and didn't vote for him either time, but he can be genuinely funny. "You think this is a funeral? Wait til you see my funeral. It's going to be the best funeral ever. It's going to such a great funeral, they're going to be talking about it for weeks, for years. Everybody's going to be crying..."

I know a lot of woke people call themselves socialist, because they see it as edgy, but dyed-in-the-wool socialists (who have read, understood, and lived the theory) know how corporate-capitalist it really is. @FemaleIsNotAFeeling Calling something "socialist" or "Marxist" doesn't make it so. Indoctrination through education has been a mainstay of governments and societies gone crazy, no matter what they say about themselves. It remains the truth that queer theory became enforced in a political system bought out by corporate interests. If we have to think of queer theory in terms of capitalist-socialist, it's best to call it capitalist. Possibly, the best way to categorize queer theory is as a social/economic/political/philosophical theory of its own, and take it out of the capitalist-socialist framework. We've been trying to take it out of the Democrat-Republican framework. Why shoehorn it into another philosophy where it doesn't fit?

That said, at the very least Trump knew Epstein was a pedophile and trafficker and still kept close ties with him (in fairness, as did many others). It was a valuable connection to elite contacts. I think it's quite possible Trump had sexual contact with girls he would say "looked 19" and didn't feel a need to ask questions. (And would the Epstein crowd answer honestly anyway? This was apparently an extortion ring.) Trump probably doesn't know himself if he had sexual contact with an underage girl through Epstein. Or, less likely but still possible, he does know.I want to bring up a point about "the list." Trump's comment about roping in innocent people in going after those in Epstein's black book is fair. People involved in illegal activities don't usually keep all the co-conspirators on one list. They put contact info for potential victims, their barber, their contractor, their second cousin, somebody they talked to at a party, etc etc on the same list with the baddies. That way they don't lose control if the black book is stolen or lands in the hands of law enforcement.BTW, everything I've said about Trump applies to Clinton as well. You know somebody is tied to tribal politics in a delusional way if they only want to accuse one of these guys.

@ninapaley This is where the genderborg movement has messed me up: I used to read things that were batshit crazy and very harmful and think "well, that's just that person's screwy opinion, and they're probably only trying to mess with people's heads for the heck of it anyway." But the genderborgs have taught me that crazy harmful wrong abusive and discriminatory ideas that cannot hold up under scrutiny have to be taken seriously. And there are so many of them.

Most varieties today are not bitter, and removing moisture with salt doesn't add anything in the way of flavor.The way "salting" is done, lots of salt is rubbed into the eggplant, the eggplant rests for an hour or so, the moisture drips out, then salt is rubbed off the surface and the eggplant is cooked in a sauce that absorbs some (but not enough) of the saltiness. It's a labor intensive high sodium exercise that changes the texture but doesn't add much.
