@kevets The reason isn't very compelling if you don't know what it is! If you want people to be sure that your account and that website are run by you, then you might need it. But if you don't know the reasons you probably don't need it until you do.

@kevets Mastodon doesn't have the verification system with check-marks and such. People just put blue checks in their profiles to be funny or look cool, anyone can do it. It is possible you will need to do this for a third party service that wants to know you and the website are the same. Or perhaps you just want people perusing your profile to know and be confident that this is so. For business reasons perhaps.

@sirseatsitter @progo there's were tunnels under my grade school when I was a kid (in the 60's) there were at the time decades old. There were once (and probably built) to store coal. Also tunnels in NYC? Is that were it is (I've seen nothing but memes) I'm sure they are tunnels under tunnels under tunnels everywhere there. ðŸ¤
