@wjmaggos nostr is not a bad project, but it's still using instances's just calling them relays and not promoting the community side of this. The conversations around this are not the best. People argue that #bluesky and #nostr are both spoilers on #activitypub there is some truth to this, though am more they are all #4opens and diversity is good, but please be honest path.

It's interesting to look at all the new #openweb native social media applications. Second one is https://www.threads.net/@boatingeurope which we are trying for posting #boatingeurope life. This #dotcons has an algorithm to auto fallow people, so there are 169 followers and fallowing 210 people. A lot of posts, but very little interaction or engagement, few interesting people. Not working and obviously a bait and switch #dotcons so a dead end path to use for the #openweb#reboot #socialweb

@aral Am curease why you don't interact with socialhub, yes it's a mess, yes people can be pointless, but it is the grassroots space, and these are the people we need to try and work with, composting comes to mind.

@cascheranno The composting moment, the thinking behind #FOSS has stagnated. The same “freedom” that opened the door to collective innovation also let capital appropriate the commons. Corporations learned to exploit open code while ignoring its intent, twisting licenses, and capturing communities. This is the #GeekProblem: confusing technical brilliance with moral neutrality, mistaking openness of code for openness of culture.

@cascheranno The solution is not to abandon #FOSS, but to rebalance it. We need to compost the sterile individualism that crept in, nourish the soil with social values - trust, care, shared governance, and humility. The #OMN and #OGB projects try to do this by adding a democratic layer of governance to our infrastructure, bringing social accountability to technical openness.
