@timr @pma05 @MarcusJ65 @WhirledPeas @DuaneCates Your story is very similar to the experience I had with one of my friends in the 1970s minus the fight. The group in this case was called Children of God. The friend in this case was socially awkward and didn’t quite fit in in the church circle we shared. She was looking for community and hadn’t found it until they came along and love bombed her into submission. I still wonder what happened to her afterward.

@timr @pma05 @MarcusJ65 @WhirledPeas Our group was a Mennonite Voluntary Service Unit. For the guys it was an alternative to military service when they were drafted. There were some girls too who joined for the experience.The girl in question (also C) was the one member of the unit who was not ethnic Mennonite. I wonder sometimes if she would been better accepted if she were not "English" and if that would have made a difference...

We longer have a reliable compass to go by in terms of determining what is likely or unlikely.Not to say I disagree with your perception of Lin Wood.
