@phoenix Firefox preview for Android has come a long way. Definitely much more fluid. There's still a few deal breaking bugs for me to run it daily. One of which is a buggy webview. Tab management could use a little work too. And of course plugin/ad block support.

@admin honest question though... Meant for Gab and her like-minded instances. I get that it's disrespectful in your eyes, but doesn't your bio literally say your instance is a bastion of free speech and that the correct action is to individually block/mute what you don't like? What you are suggesting goes against that. Again, it's your instance and you can choose what you want to do. But there is a reason other non-Gab instances that promote free speech, so often attack and shitpost on Gab and her instances.

@admin ah, not in the US? I get it though. I think there should be a mix of true free speech and moderated instances. There's nothing wrong with moderated instances, as long as the rules are pretty straightforward and laid out up front. If Gab were smart, they'd tone their mothership instance down to promote usage by big names (Congress, President, etc) and have some other instances that promote totally free speech.

@judgedread @admin oh for sure. It's too late now. Being able to snag the president would add a new appeal though... But it's a major gamble. Parler is much more on track in that regard. Though I can't fucking stand that terrible ecosystem.

@moonman @djsundog Wayland or X? Wayland fixes a lot of multi monitor setup issues. But then again... That's st the expensive of it fucking up if you are a Nvidia user.

@BetterNot2Know @admin @robcolbert @Millwood16 Oh I know, I have an account on Gab with a couple of groups. I should have been more specific. In a perfect world, to get the president onto the platform, Gab would have two instances. A truly free speech instance (which there are reports that Gab has some instance wide blocks implemented) and a moderated instance. I understand using groups to moderate... but the president would never join Gab under that setup. His server itself would have to be free of most controversy. Now, Gab can't just roll back into that. But maybe they could make an instance for political figures or something. I don't know the solution to get the President on, nor am I really looking for one. I've got my own instance that will promote 100% free speech. There's really not much I have to worry about on my side.

@proxeus My personal opinion is that it's a terrible competitive game. At least on the E-Sports level. And their competitive community is garbage. The amount of collective rage the community had when a 15 year old girl beat their best... was almost too much to handle. Speaking of which, Bocchi just can't catch a break on Twitter... she should really consider migrating to the Fedi.

@thebitchisback @ArdanianRight @Jojothegoodperson yeah, the US wanted no part of the war. Barley half of Americans were even okay with Lend-Lease. FDR wanted into the war though, as did Churchill. They couldn't get the US on board though without having the US attacked... Something Germany wanted no part in. Thus the oil embargos and sanctions. (Though many would have you believe it was to stop Japan's global expansion. Which is hilarious considering Germany, Russia and China were all doing the same thing). Was Japan crazy? Yes. But they were no more crazy than any of the other countries I mentioned. They were just more dedicated and die hard to their cause.

@J @a I may be a able do that. There needs to be some type of public identifier coming from the instance that the app can read to determine it's a Gab based instance. I haven't looked into it to see if it exists.

@J So while searching 'gab' will find servers with 'gab' in the name... it wouldn't work for gab instances without 'gab' in the domain. That site appears to identify the servers as "Mastodon 2.8.4". So I could go based off domain names... but that would miss some gab instances and even open up the ability to make a Pleroma instance (for example) using a gab domain.... and break compatibility with it. This could be an issue with the site not reading the data right, or with Gab's implementation of their fork of Mastodon.
