       @namvoo Shit man, there's no good way around it, just through it. Give yourself time to remember all the good times and give your dog the proper send off. It sounds insane now but honestly the only thing that worked for me was to get another dog. Dogs are one of God's greatest gifts and they only break our hearts once. You can't ever regain what you had, but with time you may find something new that's beautiful in its own way.

       @mkultra Catholics should just own the Mary thing, there's no point in downplaying it. Seeing the development of different Marian devotions and promises over the centuries was one of my favorite things about the catholic church. From what I recall, the rationale behind this and every other Marian devotion is that she asks Christ do do something on our behalf and He goes along because she's His mother and He loves her. You don't have to agree but this is the understanding that I and pretty much every other layman had.
