@kev agreed! Sometimes you need (or maybe even want) to use some software that isn't very privacy conscious, but that doesn't mean you don't care about privacy. At the end of the day, people should just use what they need to use, or what they're comfortable using.

@joel Dang, I wish college was that inexpensive here in the US! I've noticed the same thing with my IT job. Granted, we do a lot more with updating computers, and some web/file server related stuff, but most of the time it's just sitting around waiting for things to happen. Can't complain though because I can use that time for homework or other things!

@kev I've always really liked Zorin OS! It's always worked very smoothly, and I like it's aesthetic. The only reason it's not my main distro right now is that it for some reason had some issues with my Framework Laptop.

@linmob if I remember correctly, it's purpose was to be for developers to build and test distros, and for enthusiasts to try stuff out along the way. I think it's succeeded in that goal. It's offered a more open platform for building and testing distros so it can be better on devices that might not allow such openness.

@alejandrobdn definitely tech conservative, but I've definitely tiptoed into the newborn paranoid a few times in the past.

After 2.5 years and about 4 or 5 negative COVID tests, I've tested positive. Guess that means I'll be doing a whole lot of nothing for the next 5-ish days.

@joel thanks! And yeah, I kinda figured that's what you meant by cool, but I appreciate the clarification! It will be nice to just do nothing after doing so much at band camp for the past week, but I could definitely do without the cough and the fever๐

@kev @joel @tdarb @brianb @benjaminhollon y'all have convinced me๐ I wanted to get a normal non-smart watch that I don't need to charge, and this will do perfectly!

@kev the battery thing is one of the parts I've loved about my Casio so far! I have a Garmin Forerunner as my smartwatch, which lasted a while anyway, but it was always annoying when I would wake up and realize it was dead.

@kev oh nice! I agree, Garmin makes some really nice watches! The ones I've had have easily lasted 1-2 weeks on a charge depending on what I did for workouts.

@kev dang, you're picking up quite the Casio collection there! How is the calculator watch btw? It was between that and the F-91W for me.

I tried root beer milk at an event the band played at once, and it was really good! Almost a year later, I've finally found where to buy some!

@fatboy basically imagine chocolate milk, but instead of chocolate flavor, it's root beer flavor. It kinda tastes like a melted root beer float

@CliffWade @jcrabapple Pop! OS in a VM because I need Windows for class and it's easier than dual booting for switching between the 2 OSes

@killyourfm Never thought about this before (granted, I wasn't around in the 90s to experience video games of the time) but it is kind of interesting.Also, Halt and Catch Gire is a great show! I kinda stopped watching it after getting busy with school and never got back around to it, but I should pick it back up!
