Oh, the shame of not properly scoping. You decide to utter one stupid thing, one nicety, and it blows up your mind's face. Fuck me for deigning, I guess. Now back to reading.

It's ironic that all to supposedly oppresses classes of all the Marxism-derived movements and ideologies almost all invariably deperson themselves and commit to depersoning others. There beings, since they're barely people, shouldn't be allowed the any courtesy, and should be shunned from functioning societies, should be put together where the greatest parasite will win, but ultimately starve (unless they're ranks are rountinely replenished from the sadly poisoned 'functioning societies'. Every time they've been given way to implement changes, it's failed for all but the ruling class, the knowitalls, the Allerbesserwisser, the Klaus Schwabs, Bill Gates, and so on. They get more wealth and power, stick a new label on their spiel and play again shortly.

@Beomus Probably less than 1e-5 use as something other than as entertainment/distraction and (faux) (social) status flaunting. These could easily shortly cover for one another. The (auto-)fellatory echochamber may be comforting for most.Other still have nobody to talk to, but since just about nobody makes an effort, that too is for naught, at worst causes more loneliness. There is no point. :|

1634 instances muted and still I get Marxist babies in my timelines, crying and pointing fingers. Still I get pet and food posts. Mastodon seems to be utterly like Twitter, only less clout is to be had, so less 'influencers' or follower-heavy people reside here. There are not significant differences either: - >99% of instances employ heavy moderation well beyond what's required to purge what is outright illegal for instance's servers' law; - arbitrary text and enclosure limitations;- people behave as if this were twitter, using whatever goes for 'content warning's or 'trigger warnings', attempting faux inclusivity, being violently hostile to anybody slightly deviating from their perceived notion of their ideology's or movement's goals, scapegoats, etc.And the little that is left is not worth interacting with:- wow, a status log for your machive;- wow, you like music, who'd've thunk;- wow, you think anybody wants your tips;- recruitment from failing academia in the US, failing job markets;- reposting news articles, a.k.a., wow you read something with mass exposure;I am despondent.

@Beomus I don't subscribe to the accelerationist take, though I'm yet to dive into Nick Land's (and others'?) writing to an exact feel for the worldview.Calling it a skinner box I also wouldn't agree with: you don't get cocaine, you get the barest minimal of pleasures; it just easily accessible and mentally unchallenging as compared to sitting still and pondering your own problems, your society's, your world's, who you've been a dick to, what you should be doing with your time, etc. That said, I'm an outlier as not having a phone, not having friends, and not using social media other than mastodon, for a year, and 4chan, for 15-ish years, but I wouldn't call it social media since it doesn't conform with the group's members. If 8h-work days weren't the standard (it's not even a legal one; rebel, people; ffs), if they had time to contemplate their position, their goals, their dreams, they would be spending more time with close ones, or doing things they enjoyed. What social media users have is a numbing, comfitting dripfeed of security, misdirected outrage, 'enjoyment', status reinforcement (could be put under security). Also, what would we be collapsing to? A Matrix-style universe I can imagine, but not in the near future. A technocratic, Marxist takeover of world is nearer, yet inherently instable in the short-run (no one leader has had a life-long rule, to my recall, because of internal power struggles). But I also don't know how to revive small-scale, local dialogue (not that I've tried other than for opening a bookclub locally whereupon a beaurocratic cockblock and disinterest of locals disheartened me). Going up to a resting person outside and engaging them in conversation has for me so far rarely been outright hostile, at worst straight answer, uninviting of continual. What I've heard old people describing, what one sees as the backdrop of cafe, restaurant, town square scenes in movies, is lacking. I think.

From Jeff Deutsch's In Praise of Good Bookstores:A DUBIOUS STATE OF INNER HYGIENESeneca, in his first letter to Lucilius, explains how precious time is, imploring Lucilius to hold it in his grasp and make the most use of it. You will not die at once, he says, you are dying every day. Use your time wisely, for "nothing, Lucilius, is ours, except time." Continuing, he exclaims:What fools these mortals be! They allow the cheapest and most useless things, which can be easily replaced, to be charged in the reckoning, after they have acquired them; but they never regard themselves in debt when they have received some of that precious commodity,---time! And yet time is the one loan which even a grateful recipient cannot repay.Everyone is in such a hurry. We have more time than most of our ancestors, but we shouldn't confuse our commitment to efficiency with an appreciation of that "precious commodity,---time." We might find an analogue for our mania in Musil's reflection: "The thesis that the huge quantities of soap sold testify to our great cleanliness need not apply to the moral life, where the more recent principle seems more accurate, that a strong compulsion to wash suggests a dubious state of inner hygiene." Elizabeth Hardwick writes of her age and ours that "time is just what our contemporary existence is determined to shorten." With her characteristic perspicacity, she observes that time is "that curious loss in a world of time-saving." Our manic obsession with efficiency yields time that we immediately and frivolously consume, cheapening it rather than appreciating it.

@Beomus I vividly remember writing a 2500-word responce, and now it's gone on my end. I'd even editted it. Anyway, I feel bad about pleroma or this instance's version of it not being up to snuff, the quote I just posted about, which I can't get an URI to, seems pertinent to all the stuff I said that is not lost to the void.

@Beomus Soviet states and soviet friend states used to have nationalized televesion channels. These hadn't any commercials, unlike US channels, radio or television, where they're both frequent and long. At some point, enough people got fed up to sufficiently to take up recording desired materials (I'd've said 'copyrighted', but technically advertisements fall under copyright law too) and employing torrenting and other methods of sharing them in a burgeoning, still gray legal area. At some point, around early 2000s a few smart fucks predicted streaming would be a big then, Enron for some reason among them, though the users were really ready so it failed, but but HBO, for example, was, like, hey, I'll show you only movies wo/ ads if you pay me double what you do for the 50 odd channels you pay for and watch 3 of. And it worked.A company or any aggregation of people unconsciously wants to grow and subsume more people, resources, clout. When it become big enough such that fiscal failure is immenent and unavoidable, a lot of people lose their jobs, and just have to find new ones, but along the way other companies get restructured or die. We don't have the benefit of hindsight/history to say whether have zero boots-on-the-ground journalists doing not-opinion pieces will be a bad thing (they literally use/read Twitter and Facebook posts as 'news').Regarding dopamine, gen Z or whatever the people 20--25 years after the millenials were born are, according to various Pew-type questionnaires, very distrustful of both government and big companies. So, just have to way til they enter the labor force for some change, until mills fuck up everything for everyone..I think the (unintentional?) monopolization of internet traffic (like, >80% goes to less than 5 sites, in the Western world; in China/Russia/India, is probably the same number) is a transition, to a more insular, federated one. But it'll take time, and I'm sure as fuck that an insular federated one could just as well be spun to be 'evil' or not serving a common human interest. This feels like another giant tangent mysides, so I'm putting an end to it. Glad you saw the post, I'm not halucinating. I'll finish by saying that we have to be exemplary, provide rationale for our choices and educate/discuss if asked, but not force (since that's never worked), and that will, I'd hope, hasten the change ever so slightly.

I could get behind 'last, first' ordering, if there aren't >1 elements, and these needed to be delimited otherwise. libgen's files often follow the regex '(?P<last names?>[^,]+),\h*(?P<first names>[^,]+)\h*(?P<role>\([\w\h]+\))'; additionally, the publishing house name may precede or succeed the author/s, the title may precedee or succeed the author, and a fucking publication year may be somewhere, you know, for funsies, in parens of course, likewise with edition informtion. Is consistency too much to ask for? Is desiring stability and uniformity such a betabitchboi thing? For three which have authors up front, the most often case, the first with one role, the second not switched, and the third with pubhouse:for w ( ${q} ) {; p ${w%% - *} _${^${(j., .)${(s._.)w%% - *}/[[:blank:]]#(#b)(*),[[:blank:]]#(#b)(*)[[:blank:]]#(#b)(\(*\))#[[:blank:]]#/${match[2]} ${match[1]} ${match[3]}}// / }_ '' }Sammons, Brian M_ Barrass, Glynn Owen (editor)_ Campbell, Ramsey_ Langan, John_Brian M Sammons , Glynn Owen (editor) Barrass , Ramsey Campbell , John Langan _Wade Davis, Timothy Plowman, Richard Evans Schultes_Richard Evans Schultes Wade Davis, Timothy Plowman _(Harper Perennial modern classics) Steadman, Ralph_Thompson, Hunter S_Ralph (Harper Perennial modern classics) Steadman , Hunter S Thompson _There's still random to me \h, and I'm close to letting go. And I've yet to learn how exactly the PCRE reseting anchor work to use perl, I'm still surprised I managed to fanagle a bigass one to mold my then TeX file, using glossaries package for children, into a tsv one that did right by series/siblings.Anyway, another day of nothingness. Refridgerated, quinined tapwater and looping music while my life stagnates continually. Easy books til NY.

@pureevil Try any of the Iversonian ones?[0] They're arcane is the unserious way, I wouldn't call any of the languages mentioned there esoteric, which I take as a euphemism for gimmick-y. And they sure as heck don't hack Haskell-type abstruce and ultimately unhelpful problems.[0] https://github.com/codereport/array-language-comparisons

I push on through top shelve sludge of internet 'society', disappointment after disappoint, you'd think I'd lose altogether and off myself finally, but no, ulatimately, my detriment.A thought worth exploring: the juxtaposition of: millenarianism, cultism, Marxism. They overlap greatly, too much to be a coincidence.

Marxists perversion of what a family (or just, say, the smallest self-contained, reproducing unit of society) is funny, since it makes disempowers both men and women; aggravates, frustrates, angers, disappoints both men and women; takes away pets' (predominantly cats and dogs) agency and makes them overly reliant, spoiled, and these ersatz children won't start contributing to society ever (save for, say, seeing eye dogs, and canines for other such utilitarian purposes, but these must be educated within 1--2y and relinquished, not babied til death). So, if you take a nuclear family: the man and woman swap roles, personalities, characteristics, anatomies, nearly all; the children get taken by the state, if I were cynical, although it is true to an extend in certain circumstances, or they don't exist at all; and the pet/s become the children. Wow. And you wonder why people don't 'identify as' as mollusks, lepidopterans, formicidae, or even other hominids. They crave coddling, not being (un-)intentionally stomped on the way to the outhouse. State takes away your everything, hands you back a bad replacement and expects compliance, obeisance, and tax money. What a shit world, ffs.

Pests. Bethany Brookshire.Boring writing, dropped despite potentially interesting content.Trust Me. Ryan Green.Black Widow. Ryan Green. The previous two of the collection wore me down, and these two being lesser crimes, were more filler, were less, and ultimately boring.Hojoki: A Hermit's Hut as Metaphor.Kamo no Chomei, Matthew Stavros (tr.)Decent short read. Defo better than a lot of other niplit, but undeserving the translator's foreword's praise, nor the other, already deleted one's.The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit.Michael Finkel.Nice, short read of a story I'm already familiar with. Okay.Continuing with other small easy shits.Fuck happy people. Fuck them all to the Acheron.
