I've thought about using the cargo quadricycle to take my propane tank to the hardware store for a refill but didn't do it because it felt hard to do safely. That didn't worry this person, who has put the tank (about 1/6 the size I have) on a furniture dolly improvised into a trailer. #CarryShitOlympics #BikeTooter

Anyone familiar with cycling gloves and crocheting able to point me to resources as to how o repair the crocheted backs of cycling gloves that have rotted away in places? This is a pair that has anti-vibration gel inside or else I'd just buy another pair. Apparently they don't make this model anymore.(Edited to add photo.)#Crochet #BikeTooter

One of those things that reminds me I'm old is that I'll assume something that was very common for decades is still the case - and it turns out the fashion has changed. Like apparently crochet-back cycling gloves are way less common now. #BikeTooter http://veloweb.ca/2013/05/08/crochet-cycling-gloves-not-just-for-nannies-and-ninnies/

One way to keep the creeping ableist propaganda at bay is that when someone wants you to use "post-pandemic", you can say "during this ongoing pandemic". and when you want to refer to how things are going now compared to the first year, you can say "post-early pandemic". #COVIDisNotOver #Pandemic #Ableism

@EU_Commission This is guarded good news, but it is about disability paperwork, which all disabled people have to deal with quite a bit. What announcements are there about how accessibility will be extended and improved throughout the EU? How are disabled people being included in leadership in the EU?#InternationalDayofDisabledPeople @disability

Here's an energy source that isn't harnessed enough: composting heat. I once saw a video for an ecovillage where they heated their shower water by passing a coiled hose through their compost pile first. Worked like a charm. #Sustainability #Gardening

Me taking photographs of my laptop screen because Google & Apple decided I can't screenshot a big corporation's film property. The beginning of "9 to 5" has a time capsule of 1980 commuting (albeit staged). They show running after a bus, coming up from the subway, taking taxis, 2 women on bikes, and a man carrying roller skates he's apparently used for multi-modality. @fedibikes #Transportation #BikeTooter

It's all very believable to me as before Reagan rolled everything back and got us on the road to fascism the US is now on, people were cycling more due to several gas crises in the '70s and roller skating had enjoyed a revival around this time as well.

Just like fast food places in CA (possibly the entire US) are required to display the calories in their food, I think film/TV made during this pandemic should have chyron displaying what the PPE and public health measures were and how many ppl in the cast & crew got COVID as a result of those productions.I seeing things where ppl were wearing clear visors but not masks (because it's TV and we just have to see all of their faces) and I'm really wondering what the stats for it are. #COVID

Growing up in the area, there were years where we'd bring our whole family up to the curbside of the #RoseParade and camp out for a day or two ahead of time. Just floats, bands, equestrians. It's a little weird to see them going for the Super Bowl type-spectacle now. I'm both impressed & disgusted.Esp with Honda as a sponsor, we get really auto-oriented BS in the beginning. #HappyNewYear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-yGuuBi47E

The Rose Parade, while now broadcast worldwide, started as a local tradition of (mostly wealthy) Easterners celebrating now living in the West, thumbing their nose at folks back East by having a floral celebration in the middle of winter. It started with horse-drawn carts decorated with roses and other flowers. The floral element can always be pulled into a direction about the Earth, but the parade's roots as the conspicuous consumption of wealthy folks #RoseParade

@bmacDonald94 Yeah, I didn't go to anything past 1980, I think. And the Doo Dah Parade was much more my speed but even that's been harassed out of its original form, it seems.

@bmacDonald94 You survived all that and that is success in itself. I only know of Old Pasadena from occasional stories from others (my family has roots in LA in general, but not deep roots in Pasadena). I wish I'd been able to see it, yet am grateful for what I was able to experience.

makes holding a show that starts with people performing inside automobiles not far from its roots, I guess.I keep wishing the Rose Parade would show some climate leadership and go completely retro: Human- and animal-powered vehicles only. US-grown flowers applied by local workers. I honestly think they have enough clout with corporate types they could probably create some pressure to do that.It would be a nice example (though still waste because we no one *needs* this).

@bmacDonald94 I always dreamed of living in a Craftsman bungalow. It was just "normal" for our area. By the time I was in HS, I realized my generation would be the first to do worse than our parents (as a generalization). Right-wing libertarians, Reagan, et al ensured that. It was sad realizing I'd never be able to afford a house, much less a Craftsman.
