       This is neat, I feel like Masto turned a corner recently on "being a place to find news and stuff"Seems like we're getting that thing where news ripples across the network, which was part of why Twitter was useful. Probably crossed some active user threshold necessary for that network effect to kick in or something.        Huh, so Unity has reached the killing-the-golden-goose point of their enshittification: https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/unity-to-start-charging-fee-pegged-to-game-installs20c per install doesn't sound like much to PC users, but that's potentially enough to nuke mobile gaming entirely. Which they know, because they also run the stats system mobile devs use to calculate ARPU/ARPPU.Unreal taking a small cut of revenue works fine. That's based on you know, money you made.Unity charging based on "Installs" might actually cost you money in mobile space. Or if you do a PS+ freebie. Or GamePass. Or especially an EpicStore freebie.        Oh gooood, this whole #Unity3D blowout?It literally happened because of that shitty Iron Source buy-out that everyone was pissed about.        It's nice that #Unity3D walked back to terms that don't apply unless you use their latest engine, but that's the take-away: you need to not use their latest anymore. Finish your game. Find another engine. This is just an escape clause.Anyone who sticks with them will get screwed the next time their c-suite wants to goose their stock price.If you can find a way to keep making games on old Unity versions, that works too probably. But. You'll hit issues if you want to target consoles. There is no porting path for most (any?) Unity versions more than 2 years old at time of port.EDIT: (but really even old versions, they already changed their minds once on that, so assuming they won't again is foolish- find a new engine after you finish out current projects)

       I bet someone could do a research paper on the relative power usage of browsing a web archived version of a site VS the live version and prove that the archived version generates substantially less carbon, too.That is, most of what makes a website slow to load is all the ad tracking and Java bullshit, and archive systems strip that entirely.        Right so I did one more spin on hitstop- now it ALSO stops all motion. And I mean, ALL, motion. So it freezes you in mid-air, it blocks the launches/blasts, etc.Weirdest vibes I've ever had. Where the lagged mesh felt like dropped frames, this suddenly feels like Final Fight. ⚔️🐭

       Codewise it's nothing fancy. Literally all I'm doing here is adding a root motion source that's SUPER high priority, so that it zeroes out all the other root motion driving the launches/etc. It also disables gravity, which gives you that airborne stop.
