When I tried to log in to Element messenger earlier after months of absence, it asked me for a "security key file". That's when I remembered that I had deleted a file of that exact name from my Downloads folder weeks ago because I didn't know any more where it came from. So I went into my backups, and realised that they had failed since June last year. Thankfully, the security key file was even older. šŸ˜… Lessons learned: Check your backups regularly. Name your files properly.

@trezzer @killyourfm This growing sandboxing headache was what got me to switch to Windows/WSL after many years of loyal macOS usage. I installed Linux as dual-boot for some dev work. Surprisingly, I found that Linux covered all my needs, despite them being pretty varied.

@killyourfm @trezzer I use Bitwig for music production and Kdenlive for simple video editing. Happy camper.

@killyourfm The HHKB keyboard layout is one of my favourites. It puts Del on Fn+Backspace, so I'd emulate that as Alt+Backspace. I try to limit Super to window management hotkeys.

Seeing all those lecture halls at #FOSDEM full of people without masks makes me sad. I know that conversations are harder wearing masks, but just sitting there and listening? What a missed opportunity to prevent spreading disease. This behaviour is the reason why I still don't feel like going to conferences again. Not because I feel unsafe with my mask, but because I feel like a total outsider.@phpledge

@juliank @JamesWidmanI'm neurotypical, but my hearing gets worse in noisy rooms, for example in pubs or at conferences. When I was at DrupalCon Prague end of last year, many people thankfully wore masks, but not seeing their mouths move made conversations much more exhausting for me.

@clacke I think I'd be worried of quickly making the conversation awkward by not looking at the person speaking. @juliank @JamesWidman

ā€œApple is destroying the Mac by trying to make it saferā€ — which is why I switched to #Linux a few years ago. ā€œApple’s admirable security regime on macOS has been implemented without enough care for the user experience, especially during upgrade or migration processes where new permissions need to be granted. It’s a usability disaster.ā€ https://www.macworld.com/article/2101369/overzealous-security-is-wrecking-the-mac-user-experience.html

#DrupalConEur has started with the opening ceremony. Lots of inspiration already. I’m excited to spend three days with so many amazing people!
